Initial reports claim It's not gonna be an MMO, or at least not initially. It's gonna be a single player action adventure game, ala-Arkham series or God of War.

Though the rumor is we're not gonna play as one of the avengers, but rather a new "recruit" into the Avengers team, where you can choose different powers and setup different "builds".

None of this is confirmed though, just speculation and doubtful leaks.

Thought we play as the six OG Avengers? Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Capetian America, Hawkeye and Black Widow I believe. If it's anything like Spider-Man this could be a good game.

Like I said, it's all speculation at this point, I'm just pointing out something I read on reddit from some supposed leaks.

There were mentions of both melee combat and cover shooting (like Gears of War) so the OG 6 Avengers make sense. Hawkeye with bow, BW with guns, Iron Man with lasers, rest melee.

But I guess we'll need to wait for E3.

I'm just hoping they surprise me with a new Valkyrie Profile or at least an HD remaster of Valkyrie Profile: Silmera for PC. I don't really care for FF7 remake at this point.

Yeah Im a huge FF fan, and I loved FF7, but I would much rather they shut down production on that and put as much man power as possible on this.

That's the current rumour. I won't play co-op but certainly don't mind it being a option. Worse comes to worse this turns out to be a Anthem/Destiny clone and in that case it'll flop.

this game is not based on the MCU. it's based on the comics. so it should have that lineup if it was about the founding of the team

Indeed. However I've just reported on the current rumour and that fits in with the MCU's first Avengers lineup regardless of what the game is based on. I'd assume it's because most folk when they see Avengers think of the MCU if the rumour turns out to be true.

They're also owned by Warner Bros, which also owns DC. We're about as likely to see a Marvel game made by Rocksteady as we are to see a Mario game on the Playstation.

Depends on which version of the Avengers you're talking about.

Iron Man/Thor/Ant-Man/Wasp/Hulk are the original five (with Hulk leaving almost immediately and Cap joining shortly after), but the Ultimate universe version of the team starts with Cap/Iron Man/Thor/Ant-Man/Wasp/Hulk and being led by Samuel L Jackson Nick Fury, with Black Widow joining shortly after (and sometimes getting sort of retconned in as an original member). The movie version was basically a combination of the two version (which is why they fought both Loki AND the Chitauri, which is a combination of both origin stories).

But in this day and age, when you're doing secondary media (like games), you're far more likely to rely on the canon from the movies than you are the actual comics. There are vastly more people out there who only know the movie version, or who might be aware of multiple versions but prefer the movie version. So it makes more sense to pander to that audience than to accommodate a small niche audience of comic fans specifically.

Indeed. I hope it's not another Batman game. As much as I love the Arkham series I feel Rocksteady should try something new. Perhaps a Justice League game. Only time will tell what they are working on.

That 3v3 shit ruined dissidia for me. Sure you could do 1 on 1 but the game was designed for 3v3 and 1v1 just didnt feel as fun compared to thr psp titles.

Id love a triple a attempt at a superman game. I mean make it a cosmic level threat to justify him not being able to wipe the floor with everyone. Though I had an idea of a open world superman game where there is constantly stuff going on and you basically have to pick and choose/priortize which crimes/threats you respond to. Like say a alien invasion is on its way but a bank down the street is being robbed. Can you stop the robbery quick enough and respond to the invasion before they touch down and start killing or should you just completely ignore the smaller threat and focus on the big one.

Basically make the game a shining example of for all supermans powers he cant save everyone all the time. Maybe make that the main focus gameplay wise so we can have superman seem as strong as hes supposed to. Have multiple endings based on how many people died during the game with the more deaths the worse of a ending you get.

Usually, games are shit when they get the original actors, because they're bad at doing VO work.

Getting a sound-alike, or at least a solid VA with a proven track record results in way better dialogue. Compare the Spider-Man games where they got Tobey Maguire to voice the character to the most recent game where they went with prolific and talented Yuri Lowenthal to voice the character, and it's such a huge difference.

I'll take quality VO representing a slightly more generic version of a character to one slavishly trying to duplicate a movie version of said character every single time.

Kevin Conroy as Batman in the Arkham games was way better than if they'd gotten literally anyone who's ever played the character in live-action at any point. We need more of that and less celebrity stuntcasting.

Just listening to the trailer, it sounds like Iron Man is Nolan North, Thor is Travis Willingham, and Black Widow is Laura Bailey, so it seems like it might be the default cast they use for most of their games and cartoons these days.

Of course, those particular VAs are pretty much the default cast for literally every game and cartoon ever these days, so I'm assuming Troy Baker's probably in there somewhere as well. Along with potentially some of the other Critical Role case like Matt Mercer or Liam O'Brien. And I'd be entirely down with that.
