Overturning a 9-0 Supreme Court decision because the president can't handle accurate reporting about the fact that he does a ton of horrible stuff sure would be a very 2019 thing

If the reporting were accurate, why would you be so worried about changing libel laws?

If your speech is accurate, why would you be so worried about changing free speech laws?

(FYI implies thinking, so you shouldn't use it)

Free speech laws and the accuracy of the speech are not related. While only inaccurate reporting is libel.

The assumption is that Trump would challenge the news corporations in the courts even if the reporting is accurate, which even in the best case would get news companies unfairly (because we're assuming reporting is accurate) mired in legal battles and would have a chilling effect on any future reporting of politicians which might paint them in a negative light.

Bottom line is, the media must be held responsible for libel, and face harsh consequences when it's against elected officials. They will face no consequences if the reporting is accurate, so the fact this is an issue shows they know they've been lying hard at the orders of their globalist masters. I mean, look at the "Russian collusion" nonsense. All the leftist media who parroted this idiocy that was proven false should have been thrown in prison by now.

And you will face no consequences if your speech isn't harmful and inciting murder, but you're still worried about it, right? How could the law ever be wrong?

If the laws can be changed so that your harmless statements are made illegal, then the law can be changed so that accurate reporting is illegal.

That is the danger.

That accurate reporting like "the Mueller report found Russian collusion" will be made illegal because it's embarrassing to the Leader, and then authority-loving sheep like you will point and say "oh that statement was made illegal so obviously it's false".

Although it's not like YOU need the law to trick you into believing lies. Your media has convinced you so easily about the collusion already, even though the report is public. The only question is whether you will take up arms against the enemies of the people, or stay hidden and let your comrades do it like at The Capital.

Btw, we do have precedent from the 1700s (before the revolution) that says truth is NOT a defense to "seditious libel."
