Yeah there aren't a whole lot of ways to really cure yourself in a timely fashion in the middle of a fight and yet the game mechanics work better this way, so video game logic results. Whether you're eating a pizza, sitting still for a few seconds, spraying yourself with "first aid spray" or tying gauze on your arm, nothing is going to be as effective as portrayed.

It's preferable to the alternative, tbh. If you sacrifice the gameplay element for the sake of logic, nobody is going to know or care that you did it and your gameplay is going to suck as a result. But if you sacrifice the logic for the sake of gameplay, your gameplay is going to be good, and at most somebody might chuckle or say "that's weird" for like a second before accepting it as just a quirk and more or less forgetting that it doesn't make sense.
