But where are you when new very promising games get collectively shit on and the doubt train starts taking on passengers. If this wasn't a phenomenon specific to Pokemon because it's such an established, cherished, rose-tinted franchise then it would be a great thing for video games. But instead for everything else people can be real cynical pieces of work sometimes.

This. It's honestly surprising how much GameFreak has managed to get away with when innovating so little with each new entry. As a casual fan of the series, I didn't pick up a new Pokemon game until X/Y, when there seemed to be at least some measure of progress in the series concerning the visuals, engine, etc.

I'm hoping the new title will be another entry that takes more than two steps outside of its comfort zone when it comes to changing things up, but we'll see.

Eh some games deserve backlash tbh. Like Fallout 76 and Anthem, we all knew those were going to be trash. There really hasn't been a pokemon game that outright sucked imo, so there's reason for hype.

Was an amazing time back then, and it's cool to see it's still popular

But a lot of it feels so fuckin forced man. If the games were THAT good I would understand but...they're really not?

Why is positivity a hard thing for people to give for most games? Why is it so easy for a game like Pokemon when it arguably doesn't deserve it. Like I said, if they made games that were as amazing as people claimed them to be this wouldn't be an issue. Witcher 3 gets a lot of well deserved praise because it's a well fuckin made game. It's also a meme how much people like Witcher 3 that you can't even genuinely praise it without people thinking you're just riding the bandwagon.

And then there's Pokemon.

You see my point. Well some of you don't and I really have to wonder about you.

It's as if people don't realize that "Yes Pokemon is still extremely popular, it's got fans of all ages and that is not changing anytime soon".

Most people who were 10 or 11 back in 1998 and have grown up with the series, stayed with it, introduced their children to it, and now we literally have 2 familial generations of fans.

Pokemon had it's dark time but ever since gen 3's first reboot of gen 1's games the series has been "full steam ahead" to the point we have a live action big budget "Detective Pikachu" movie in theaters.

I can't tell if he's bothered by people getting excited over something he doesn't like, or he hates people not getting hyped for the things he's interested in. TC you have to remember that people will always be fans of a particular series/company/developer etc. and don't want them to change the formula too much.

Bethesda literally just said the words "Elder Scrolls VI" and the internet lost their shit over a title. A similar occurrence would be people not getting too hyped for an upcoming Souls-styled game, but if Fromsoft announced Bloodborne 2 there would be hype.

It really doesn't. I'm seeing it more but it's drowned out quickly and the game sells stupidly well for what it is.

You can't critique the series at all because people fall back on sales numbers or just say something like "Well I like it so there"

Like I said. The internet likes to paint things in black and white. There is a lot to talk about on how to improve the series but people wont entertain the conversation because they're too busy making fluffy sheep porn.

You need to browse more places on the internet because there are plenty of people who aren't gushing over the newest Pokemon games. Hell, some of the latest Pokemon games such as X/Y and Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon are considered the worst in the series. Even Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were considered disappointing by a significant portion of the fanbase. Let's Go wasn't received well by the fanbase, either. Last time I checked, it dropped in price which is rare for mainline Pokemon games.

Not even many people were gushing over Detective Pikachu after seeing it and Pokemon Go has received a lot of criticism over the years. You would know all of this if you actually did your research but you clearly didn't and it shows.

Of course people are going to show excitement for the newest Pokemon game. It's Pokemon. It's one of the most popular franchises in the world if not the most popular. No shit everyone wants to talk about this. I'm sorry not as many people want to talk about whatever you're interested in. That cannot be helped. This doesn't just happen with Pokemon. Star Wars, Marvel, and whatever else that's super popular gets the same treatment.

I am taking this bait of a topic and throwing it in the trash. 3/10 got me to give a serious reply
