More than likely the other man is denying himself that experience. Or the mother is denying him that and if that is the case you dont want to be with her.

From my personal experience, i view my stepfather as my father. He raised me. And though i was the best man at a few of my friends weddings, my stepfather was my best man in mine. And though i never called him dad he is most definitely grandpa to my son.

Or maybe the father isnt a deadbeat but its the actually mom in which case, I wouldnt be with that mom in the first place if I knew the story from both sides
