at 9 AM local time, there was an explosion in a residential area in the Swedish city of Linkping.
roughly 20-30 injured, most could be treated on site, 6 went to hospital, no fatalities.
around 250 apartements were damaged in some form.

it is said that it's a deliberately placed explosive device, this was no accident.

suspects, motives etc are yet unknown.
for reasons that are too over my head to understand, it is not being classed as a terrorist attack.

some report you could hear the explosion up to 15-20 kilometers away (9-12 miles)

unrelated, but there were apparently two more explosions in Malm tonight. appears to be smaller ones, one by a residential building, and one by a nightclub
still no injured.

also, again in Malm, a man was shot in the legs by cops after threathening to blow up a bomb he claimed to have.

The lesbian couple we met in the cruise should've had their friend with them, but her appartment was one of the ones that was destroyed in the explosion in Linkping so she couldn't go. Happened the same day as the cruise.

Btw, there was an explosion in Sdertlje at a church at night now.

Man, I remember being young, a kid and thinking how explosions only happened in other countries.

Linkping is literally in the part called South Eastern Sweden. It is in the southernmost 20% of the nation

Linkping is literally in the part called South Eastern Sweden. It is in the southernmost 20% of the nation

Yeah, but for me it doesn't feel like the south xD. I live in Nykping, but I'm originally from Sdertlje (we left there in 2001). I guess it's also about perspective, you coming from the north and all hehe.

But yeah it's weird with this explosion, I passed that area several times driving to campus US/hospital.
It's not even a "bad place".

Very extreme! Considering the way the whole thing went down I kinda hope the criminals miscalculated the power of the explosive and made it stronger than planned. Because if they made such a powerful explosive just to scare someone then...

Yeah people from Mlardalen tend to think they live in Middle Sweden even though its like the southern third And people from the southern third count 60% of the country as Northern Sweden haha.

And yes, it is not a poor or bad neighbourhood at all.
