The episodic graphic adventure game starring Ashly Burch was a critical darling beloved by (nearly) all who have played it with a loyal cult following, has sold over 3 million copies and launched both a prequel and an ongoing sequel.

Wherein a teenage hipster girl goes to college and quickly discovers she has supernatural powers and then also discovers that everyone is about to die while also trying to balance being the weird unpopular kid in college and making new friends while fixing old friendships.

It also has the weird distinction of being hugely popular among 12-19 year old girls and 20-39 year old men. Which is a weird pair of demographics to hit simutaniously.

However most importantly part 1(of 5) of the game is free so there is no reason not to check it out as you will know by the end of it whether you want to see more.



It's popular and it's free (at least to check out) so why haven't you?

It suffers from the same thing every "Your choices have consequences!" game suffers from.

Which is none of your choices actually mean a fucking thing. So it's not really different to watch than play other than getting immersed, looking at all the lore at your own pace

I did play it. And the prequel. And the first episode of the sequel. They are all fantastic.

I did go heavy on a lot of Telltale Games around the time I tried it, so I could have been a bit burned out on the genre also. I did two seasons of Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us, and Tales from the Borderlands all in a row.

Enjoyed it greatly. Once I finish Danganronpa 2 I'll be moving on to Before The Storm and Life Is Strange 2.

It's a fundamentally flawed story that penalizes you for doing the right thing. I mean, you get penalized regardless for most choices. But it felt even more mean-spirited than the final chapter of telltale's the walking dead season one.

I played through it about 3, or 4 weeks ago, and played Life is Strange: Before the Storm straight after. They are both pretty awesome and I'll definately playe Life is Strange 2 after the last episode gets released. Having said that, I thought the ending for Life is Strange to be unbelievable ridiculous.

I wouldn't call it generic.

It literally struggled to get funding because the publishers that would fund it were angry that it wasn't generic.

It's fanbase range along demonstrates that. But it is very hipstery and cringy

I didn't think I was going to like it and by the end I was completely hooked. I doubt I'd pay full price but for all 5 episodes on the steam sale it was like 10 bucks. Also lol @ not playing a game and then trashing it, classic gfaqs tho :)

I actually liked the gameplay and the setting pretty well, but I didn't like any of the characters and I disliked how railroaded my "choices" were. Like say what you will about the Quantic Dream games but I didn't feel railroaded as badly in those. Gone Home was completely railroaded but it was short and fun to explore the house, so the badness of the plot didn't ruin it for me as much as the unlikable cast of Life is Strange did.

Watched it instead. It really was the same as watching a movie, I just sat down with that mindset and no "I wonder if this video will sell me the game" in sight.
Two best friends channel played it. I did like some of it though, it was pretty cool. Also severely alienated by how it's cut into 5 parts.
