Sure, one 7-8 hour long game that's not even close to the scope of the change this game is.

The REmake games are rebuilt from the ground up, rerecorded and everything. SE just decided to intentionally structure the FF7 remake game to be as money grabby as possible.

The scale of Resident Evil 2 is very different. It's all set within the one location basically.

A Final Fantasy VII Remake was never going to be the same unless they stuck to pre-rendered environments. The scale is too big and the way they used the pre-rendered screens to funnel the player wouldn't work in 3D. I'm guessing the old style of overworld wouldn't work either.

But you don't know if the content is worth having or not. You're just assuming that it isn't.

From what we see, the first section is 2 blu-ray discs of content. With typical SE shine, they're obviously not skipping out on putting money into this game. There's a fundamental difference is offering very little content, breaking it up into multiple parts, and then selling each part for full price, and massively expanding content, breaking that content into full-game size parts, and then selling each part for full price.

This isn't to say it might not be a disaster. It definitely COULD be a disaster. But if Part I is good, I will get Part II. If Part II is good, I will get part III. This is how MOST consumers think when they purchase a product. There will be people who won't get Part I because it's part I, but most people will get it because it's FFVII. So Square Enix's goal is to make sure part I is epic. Even the people who don't want to get it will be swayed if the review scores, whether user or critic are highly positive.

You think you're looking at the big picture, but really, you're just putting the wagon before the horse. The game has a better chance of succeeding the denser and more fleshed out the content.

Part 3: Leaving Calm and heading to the Chocobo Ranch, maybe head to Junon.

Part 4: Party arrives in Junon, give girl CPR, Dolphin jump up to upper Junon, Soldier parade, get a grenade, get on ship, fight Jenova.

Part 5: Arrive at Costa Del Sol, head to Corel, events of Golden Saucer and get the buggy.

Part 6: Head to Cosmo Canyon, Red XIII's story, ends at Nibelheim.

Part7: ....
