I must say, the current change for the last like, half a year or so from the "anti PC" types that has simply become straight up whining like "Didn't you get the memo, can't say it anymore! Makes you a racist. Ugh, so pathetic" just makes me laugh. You can almost hear the look of defeat when they talk, or read how exhausted and over it they are in their text online. It's fantastically entertaining.

Seems to be it turns out having to constantly fight for your right to be a dickhead and an offensive ass to everyone to the point where they and society as a whole decide to shun you can be a tiring exercise. Who knew?

People who complain about not being "able" to say it use the word anyway. Just not around individuals who will check them for it.

People who don't care to use the word also don't care to complain about not being "able" to.

I agree that the word shouldn't be used, but what about QT using it? That shit is on film for eternity. Why aren't there groups out there demanding that his movies be altered? I mean, that's a dumb as shit idea, but people have demanded dumber shit, so...

I don't use the word, but it's more out of respect - do unto others, or what have you - not because society told me I shouldn't. (And I grew up with SUPER RACIST uncles and cousins who, till this day, say that word like it's the word "the," so don't give me that bullshit that people who grew up in a different time/place get a pass...)

I think the vast majority of people in the USA agree that using the n word as it was intended as a slur is morally wrong and don't use it in common interactions.

When it comes entertainment though, there is far more leeway in how these things can be used contextually.

And there were groups that historically wanted to ban works of fiction because of language like that. Huckleberry Finn is a very common one that was in the crosshairs of activists because it uses the word.

Rush hour has one of the best examples

Agent Lee is from Hong Kong and just copies the foul language of his friend played by Tucker.

Tucker being black contantly says the n word.

So Lee thinks that is how you are to greet a black person and says "what is up my n word"

That black guy checks Lee's skin color and determines Lee is not black. As such, him not being of black skin means he is not allowed to say said word and the man attacks Lee since it is also law that you can attack those who violate this rule.

But ofc Lee is not a pushover and defends himself.

He can say it.

There are no laws against it. Basically, Tim Allen's problem is what he says makes people feel bad and that shouldn't matter because he wants to be able to say it, so they should either NOT feel bad or they shut the fuck up about feeling bad so he can not feel bad about it.

The reason why black people can say it is because it makes less people feel bad than when white people do it.

This is simply reality. Get over it.

it's obvious when people don't have close personal relationships with people of the cultures they're trying to weigh in on. they spout nonsense that you can tell they've never fully processed.

so obsessed trying to reclaim access to a word that they already use, that they'll actively try to FURTHER shame Black people for being uncomfortable.

these people who want to have their cake and eat it too are usually the first to deny privilege.
