"The longest recorded time without sleep is approximately 264 hours, or just over 11 consecutive days. Although it's unclear exactly how long humans can survive without sleep, it isn't long before the effects of sleep deprivation start to show. After only three or four nights without sleep, you can start to hallucinate.Mar 16, 2018"

Yep. Back when I did speed id regularly stay up for 4 days. Around day 3 you would start to hear voices. They generally arent nice and will say extremely hurtful, insulting things. Visual hallucinations, you wouldn't get much of. At most youll see "shadow people" for a split second in the corner of your eye

Wth dang tbh i couldn't imagine going through it multiple times & on purpose too lol. Happened to me once on accident when i got caught up in making money & music nonstop & for a moment i just assumed persona was based on that phenomenon.

But mine wasn't peripheral it was full on people waking around inside & lovecraftian black chaos orbs floating outside

When doing speed the transition from "high and having the time of your life" to "paranoid and hallucinating" is near instant sometime during day 3 hahaha

Damn that's savage tbh
I don't think i could hang lol.
I mean ive done joe rogans magic miracle trip before but I'd rather go through a hyperspace alien trip than be forced to interact with strangers from other realities walking around my house trying to keep me awake LOL

I know this one girl who does speed though & now that you said that she makes sense lol. She's probably over there in their reality every 3 days non stop. That's what her art seems to convey at least

I've had auditory hallucinations after only 36 hours. The figures in the corners of my vision thing wasn't quite there visibly but I could feel it coming.

Nothing real crazy considering I've had sleep paralysis hallucinations many times and they're extremely vivid.

I've had that kind of thing on the occasion I'd go for two or three days with barely any sleep. What I'd get would be something like imagining seeing bugs scurrying right outside my peripheral vision.

Damn that's pretty intense
Tbh i prefer the sleep paralysis ones. It's more of a random encounter maybe even a learning experience or something & then they go.

Sleep deprivation dudes are more like "aye so you don't mind if my friends & I crash here at your pad right? Also we have no respect for you whatsoever."

I had hallucinations during the final road march of Army Basic Training. Mine was a child running around our platoon, hurling insults and rocks at pretty much everyone. He was hilarious, one of the best insult comics I've ever seen.

He returned a few years later, under different circumstances. This time, I was working at a 24-hour gas station, and it was the week of Christmas. I picked up every shift possible, and worked over 100 hours that week. I was due to go in Christmas morning at 10 a.m. and work the next day until 7 a.m. I had a very bad cold, so my girlfriend hands me a bottle of Nyquil. In my already semi-coherent state, I opened it and took a deep drink, only to see her standing there, eyes and mouth wide open, holding a spoon. I went to work an hour later, absolutely tripping balls, and the kid shows up again, insulting everyone, and had me laughing all day, and for most of the overnight.

Now that's fucking weird.

But interesting because all of those insults were coming from your own mind. You must have had all that stuff saved up, lol

I get them frequently when my sleep schedule gets rocky since I work at night. I never see humanoid shapes (thank fuck), but I do see spiders.

Sometimes I see weird blobby shapes trying to form a spider. Those times are funny because I can tell my mind is struggling to conjure up something to set off my arachnophobia but it cant, lmao.

No one noticed during the road march. My customers at the store kept commenting on what a good mood I was in. They had become accustomed to me being very serious and often grumpy (night shift, bad neighborhood, so part of the job). My manager asked me a few days later if I had been high that day (not a problem if I got my work done) and I told her the whole story. She laughed and told me not to drink Nyquil before work ever again.

Yeah the people are the worst lol but are they like normal sized spiders or basketball sized?

That's funny though, makes sense too; it seemed like it took a while for my brain to be dream state enough to form a wonderland around me at first i noticed like white spirit orbs & black lovecraftian chaos tentacles.

Yeah. When I divorced my ex and had to take care of my daughter alone I gave up sleep and started working nights just so I could spend days with her.

Made it to 5 days and things were downright scary.

I would not recommend it and would never do it again. By then I was so stressed out and exhausted. It was dumb because anything could have happened to me in that time. I could have gotten hurt or worse. I had to have my mom watch my daughter while I slept pretty much a whole weekend.

Yeah, when I was trying out different depressions meds. One made me super antsy, could relax or sit still for more than like 30 seconds. So I couldn't sleep either. After several days I started seeing things. Mostly just movement at my sides. Sometimes seeing shadows of people who weren't there.

Yes and yes tag for later. My dad and I sub specialize in sleep. He is a neurologist and does sleep studies and I focus on sleep hygiene and behavior. He has apnea and I have had paralysis, sleep walking (conscious and not), night terrors, lucid dreaming, OBEs, etc. Thankfully just recently I think with natural meds and nootropics I got on a health cycle and am having zero problems... outside of needing to go to be around 8-9 and waking up at 4 (not really problem so much, Id just rather push it back an hour or two if work allowed it).

I was at my college friend's place doing a project over the weekend and hadn't slept in 3 days. There was this large creepy bald guy who was always sitting on the couch watching TV. I asked who he was and he just grunted. No one seemed to acknowledge him so I thought he was a relative or something. He never moved all day. Later I asked my friend who he was and apparently he wasn't actually there.

Yes.
I start seeing things from the corner of my eyes. Like a shimmer or shadow creeping along the wall or bed. Depends on where I am and where I'm looking.
Where I swear whatever it is is moving. I know it's the lack of sleep. Yet I still turn to look.

I've been able to go 48 hours depending on what video game I was playing. Thus far, Fallout 1 and Sid Meier's Alpha Centuari have managed it.

The Fallout 1 incident was kind of funny because I was so out of it I didn't realize I was running out of time and ultimately failed to get the water chip. First time playing the game ever and I had to start all over from the beginning because I didn't have any save with more than a couple of days left, heh.

Yes my first ultramarathon. I drive through the night to reach the spot, and ran/hiked for 25hrs. I was awake for like 40 hours in the end. I was in terrible shape for it, and ate like crap.

I was in a canyon in Arizona in the wilderness. I saw a bright colored building in the other side of the river. Pretty close and clear as day. No one else around me saw it. It was so real. It was in the same place every time I looked. But there wasn't one, I even looked at Google maps afterwards. It's all wilderness.

Then I fell asleep sitting up for like 12 hrs

A few times I've gone a couple of days without sleep and eventually I start seeing things moving in the corners of my vision.

Once in college I went like three days in a row due to getting off medication I'd been taking for a long time, but still trying to get to all my classes. On the third day I was driving down a really heavily wooded road and i saw a person rise out of the shadows the trees were casting on the road itself. Like a really indistinct hazy shape of a person came up, and then went back down like they were bobbing in and out of water.

I just turned around, went home and went right to bed and laid there until my body finally went to sleep.

Nah, the worst that happened to me was I started to black out after standing for too long. Sitting down and then getting a good night's sleep fixed that.

Black out? Did you hit the ground?

Not quite. Maybe black out wasn't the right term but I started to feel like I might faint and my vision was starting to leave me.

Damn fam that had to be a horrible feeling then

Yeah, it was probably the worst I felt in my life. Make sure you get good sleep, kids. You definitely do not want to feel like that.

I feel that tbh!!

When I was in high school forever ago myself and my 3 best friends decided to try to stay up as long as possible. I came in second at 4 days and one friend broke into day 5. We were both seriously nackered and near the end I remember alternating between laughing in pure mania and sobbing in abject depression in increasingly short cycles. When you get to the point where more caffeine just makes you feel sick and the amount of things you see and hear that don't make sense start to outnumber what does make sense, it's rough. Am I in my friends basement or outside? Weren't we playing Soul Calibur, why is the TV off? Wait, when did all these people get here? Now where did they go? How long has that couch been there?
