Never really watched it because I get bored from 30 second highlights. Did notice though, that a ton of the players aren't exactly fit. What's up with that?

from the photo we know he is clearly an elite athlete in perfect physical condition. what was his secret? he would use his massive gut for momentum to hit the ball, and then his pinch runner would go out and run the bases for him while babe sat down and had beer & hot dogs on the sideline

Babe Ruths era is 100% different than what baseball is now. First of all, black people are allowed to play.

To answer the question TC, it is in some places, isnt at others. Positions/things like 1B, DH, or batting arent necessarily athletic (even though they can be), but playing in the OF or generally anywhere else on the diamond, youll need to be some kind of an athlete to compete.

Baseball is more of a mental/hand-eye coordination sport anyway.

Babe Ruth was also in pretty good shape during the peak of his career. It's just a lot of his image comes from photos taken near the end of his career. But yeah, watch any good defensive plays in the infield or outfield and you'll realize baseball absolutely does require a high level of athleticism.

Babe Ruth was the Chaddest of Chads back in his playing days as well. He was literally swimming in tang back then.

This plus, the sheer amount of games they play is kinda amazing.
Especially when you enter into travel and timezones.
I mean, if I was getting paid what they were sure.
But that has got to take a toll on ya.
