I have yet to finish MGS V. Not that I don't like it, just don't feel compelled to play it. I'll pick it up every few months and make modest progress, but I don't know if I'll ever finish it. Same with Skyrim. Haven't completed the story in Skyrim even though I've sunk hundreds of hours into it.

I couldn't put Spider-Man down once I started it. Played it, and all the DLC, and even went back for an Ultimate NG+ run so I could 100% the trophies, even though I don't really care about completing games for trophies usually. Awesome game.

I loved both, but they both have issues.

MGSV dragged on a little too long imo, and Spider-Man was way too short.
Both have a ton of optional side missions that feature boring thugs too.

Spiderman. Although short and the side content was meh it still felt better than doing the same mission over and over in MGS 5. Plus MGS V was half baked.

I've always found the plot of Metal Gear laughably stupid, and that basically prevents me from enjoying the gameplay. But even if I didn't, the Konami BS and the game essentially being unfinished would kill my interested in it regardless. So here's a vote for Spider-Man by default (though it's also a great game in and of itself).

I'm a huge Metal Gear fan as well as Marvel so this is a tough one.

I'm sure I put in a bunch more hours in MGS V than any other MGS game, since the game actually gives you freedom to complete a mission in any way you see fit. However, the game that was released was a fraction of what it could have been.

Spider-Man was a super hero game done proper. I think some of the abilities locked behind progression should have been available from the start, such as boost jump. The story was quite predictable as well, but I didn't play the game for a story, I wanted to kick some ass as Spiderman!

If I had to pick between them, I have to pick Spider-Man because the developers did it extremely well and nothing is missing. As much as I love MGS and the Phantom Pain, Konami did it wrong without giving Kojima the time to perfect it.

Mgs v. Havent played Spiderman. Sure id enjoy it but mgs wins by default. Like mgs far more than i do anything marvel related let alone Spiderman.

If anything, the reverse is true. Phantom Pain has a slightly higher Metacritic score (if that sort of thing matters to you), but they're relatively close, and have pretty similar scores in general from most review sources. But in terms of sales Spider-Man actually sold more copies solely on the PS4 alone than Phantom Pain did across all platforms, and actually set records for being the fastest-selling game of the year in a couple different places (including the UK and Japan). Spider-Man also won about twice as many game awards from various sources than Phantom Pain did (and more GotY awards from various sources). Spider-Man did ridiculously well, it definitely wasn't a flop.

None of that necessarily means that Spider-Man is objectively better, but it definitely had more financial and critical success than Phantom Pain did if that's the metric you want to measure by. It also helped Spider-Man that it dodged the sort of negative criticisms Phantom Pain got due to things like the Kojima controversy, complaints about Quiet being sexual exploitation, or the entire game essentially being unfinished because the entire last act got cut and thrown away during it's troubled development cycle.

As of like, November, it's sold over 9 million copies and was praised almost universally.
