I feel naked without a watch and will wear one until my dying day, but I don't equate them with any sort of status. I don't notice that sort of thing on other people and highly doubt anyone would care about mine, either..

Eh, phones have just replaced them I guess.

I have a real nice watch that my parents bought me when I graduated that I wear about three times a year to look extra smart at formal things like weddings or job interviews but that's about it.

To me watches feel uncomfortable, especially since my hands are pretty hairy...
Can't tell you how many times I pulled hair by simply adjusting my watch, or trying to remove it.

Used, yes. The watch market is stupidly overpriced with a lot of the high end pieces now. Used can be a decent way to get a nice watch that's in good condition for a decent price.

I wouldn't buy a fake watch, though. If I want a cheap quartz watch I'll just buy one with an orginal design. If you really like a certain style and don't want to pay the full price there are a lot of "tributes" out that aren't full on knock offs.

Hell I'll spend maybe like $50 on a watch.

I do heavy labor with my hands and I don't want anything getting busted up.

When or if it does happen then I'm just out of $50 rather than $5,000.

No I don't buy the fake stuff.

Anyway I remember in the early 90s everyone was wearing those fake Gucci watches.
