You know, untrue, very damaging rumours. That you were a criminal, or suffering from a mental illness, or cheated on girlfriends constantly, etc.

Also, did they get away with it? Did senior management fire them, or just turn a blind eye (lol senior management)?

Judging from the lack of replies to this flopix, this is actually pretty rare.

I dunno about rumors, but I had one make up a fake customer complaint in order to have an excuse to fire me.

Turns out it was at the request of the district manager, because he and several of the store managers in his district were working together to steal from the company. They got caught about a month after they fired me (I like to think my complaint to corporate initiated the investigation), both went to jail, and the company said they'd love to have me come back and maybe even take over the store manager position. Unfortunately, I had just moved back home from college so I wasn't there anymore and they couldn't pay me enough to make it worth moving back.
