So, I have this game. For Honor (before anybody asks, Ive tried this over there and the board simply doesnt know how to help). I live with three roommates and we all have the game. However, we can only play together for very brief amounts of time before the Ubisoft server kicks one or all of us. It doesnt matter if were in a party or playing separately. We all play under one public IP (like most households) and dont have this issue with any other game.

If its me and one other, we can stay logged in for anywhere between 10-30mns before a server kick. If the third player is also on, its more like 10mns tops. We all LOVE this game, but after days of research and weeks of tech support (as well as my own personal router tweaking), I get this excerpt from a rep.

Firstly, thank you for your understanding in this situation. I apologize for any and all inconveniences brought about by this technical limitation to you and your roommates. I have passed up your feedback, as well as your suggestion regarding making it possible to have multiple instances of our games originating on the same IP.

In regard to the user from GameFAQs, I cannot speak on the authenticity of their claim. For the cause of the kick, Support does not have access to the back end of the For Honor servers for me to say precisely where the conflict that results in the kick occurs. How it occurs is that each PS4 on your network is designated the same level of priority when connecting to our games, and when 3 instances of the same priority, with the same network identity attempt their own instance of the game, the network cant prioritize or identify input and connection to a singular system and then kicks the 3 instances, as none of them could successfully connect completely.

Please let me know if you have further concerns

Much research has shown Ubisoft titles are infamous for not allowing multiple local IPs to connect to a server through one public IP, which in my opinion is absolute HORSESHIT in a game designed almost exclusively around multiplayer content.

However, it seems to still work...for awhile. Im fairly tech savvy, but he says that the game tries to create multiple instances. Not sure what that means, especially considering they switched to dedicated servers some years ago.

Through tech support, I tried every usual router configuration. The rep didnt send the above until I pretty much called them out on what the REAL problem was and linked several forum topics (from their own forum) of users having the same issue and Ubisoft not being able to resolve it.

The gamefaqs user mentioned who lives in Scotland said that he doesnt have this problem whatsoever, which doesnt make sense if this is some internal design flaw. What game in 2019 cant operate multiplayer from one public IP? Thats asinine, and I told them that if they know about it (which he pretty much said), then they need to update their troubleshooting FAQ to notify customers that this title does NOT coexist with itself on one network.

What sucks is the game is really, REALLY fun and I want to play it with my roommates. Is there some way I can modify the priority? Can someone better explain that, and how it would matter with dedicated servers? Why does it work for random amounts of time BEFORE kicking us? I dont really understand that. Surely there is a way I can somehow work around this. But I need to better understand it. What is an instance? Why cant their servers differentiate the consoles when ANYTHING else we play on one network can?

There's not much you can do. You could have your roommates use VPNs to get different IP addresses but that's overkill and might make game performance worse. You may have to wait until the game dev patches the issue, which they might never do.

Is there a way to play a local game on your home network without going through their servers?

No, its always online. There actually isnt an offline mode. You cant even play story offline.

I dont suppose I could fandangle device priority on my side?
