I'm really curious as to what policy changes have directly affected your life

I lost my healthcare, haven't been to the doctor in a while, when I did get the healthcare I got shitty poor person healthcare. My whole family? 10 year old sister, hasn't been to the doctor in 3 years.

Directly Republican's fault.

Thankfully the Republicans haven't busted up my union yet. I get paid $13 an hour thanks to my union. I hear every Republican I work with complain about their union dues, which doesn't come close to eclipsing the raises for this very low skill job.

My bosses son is facing 20 years for weed. She also smokes weed. Guess what? Hardcore Republican. It's her fault her own son is in jail.

Turns out voting for stupid shit has consequences.

If it's a matter of losing "free" healthcare, that's something you should have been paying for yourself all along. Because thanks to "free" healthcare being given out, my premiums went up and so did my taxes.

I feel like the left realizes what's going on but they perceive it as being ok because they feel it's a victory for their political leanings but it's obvious that big tech companies are actively working to wash the internet of anything that isnt negative propaganda about trump or conservatives. Its already been found that google algorithms make it so that negative trump pieces are the first 5 or so results for anything trump related. But you people are so short sighted that you see this as a good thing and dont see the long term damage of a corporate entity having so much control over the information we have access to. This is something the left and right should be unified on. Many on the left pretend to hate corporations until they're silencing people they dont like.

On the other hand, it's not shocking that most platform providers, including this site, have liberal values.

I'm sorry about your taxes, though. My family should have just bitten the bullet and not gone to the doctor at all after my dad left 6 years ago. I agree, my single mother, supporting a family of 4? Man, fucking leech. Obama sucked.

No, Obama sucked because he didn't go full Medicare for all and cut out the insurance middle man as every other modern country has done. Instead, he went with a centrist plan that was meant to drag the US's feet. He compromised with a bunch of evil Republicans and we got half evil.

I'd describe not caring about 40,000 Americans dying from healthcare every year as pretty evil, or dim at the very best. The Republicans goal is not to find a mysterious privatized solution to this problem, it's to pretend they care and fear monger about subsidizing healthcare.

We don't have private firefighters, private police, private armies, and we don't need private healthcare. No other civil country does. Time and place. >_>

I'm going to disagree. It wasn't a center plan, it was literally a plan proposed by the heritage foundation, and championed by candidates like Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. He didn't even get a public option in there.

They just passed a law in Alabama to let churches have private police forces.

There was also that story a few years back in Tennessee where the firefighters stood by and let a home burn to the ground over a firefighter fee of $75.

And of course we have mercenaries. And even border patrol vigilantes holding people at gun point that the us border patrol was ok working with.

All of these are of course issues as well, but we do have them.

My grandma was a single mother with SIX kids (or, in other words, a family of SEVEN) and she never once thought about relying on a government handout. The idea that people need handouts to survive is ludicrous and perpetuates a culture of dependency that fetters away tax dollars in addition to helping drive costs for *everybody else* in the system. And make no mistake about it --- creating and perpetuating systems of dependency is an evil unto itself. Likewise, giving complete control over who lives and dies to the government -- which happens in exclusively government-run systems -- is another kind of evil, especially considering the very-high-profile examples of governments who denied care to people THEN denied them from seeking care elsewhere. While the US has its healthcare problems, we don't ban people from seeking treatment abroad.

My mom was a single mother of 3, and some government handouts (while she worked multiple jobs) allowed her to go back to school and get a Master's Degree for a better future. I think it's good to aim for better opportunities for everyone. We're also several generations past the point where a single income and six children is nearly livable. People can barely support just themselves.

Well, your grandma either didn't get healthcare or was fortunate enough to have access to healthcare.

It doesn't change the fact that today 40,000 people die in the US annually from lack of insurance, and that doesn't happen in other countries.

And it's not a handout. It's just paid for in taxes rather than checks to private insurance companies. See, we get something for our money. Frankly, I'm sick of giving the US army handouts.

There is a good chance the transition won't be totally smooth, but these price gauging fine-line reading private companies have to go. They've made an absolute mess. They deny people coverage, and their bottom line is always maximizing profit over saving lives.
