I'm not versed on on the subject as other forms of music but IMO 2 Pac had more soul and seemed to have a much wider expression in his music.

I prefer Pac over Jay myself, but to each their own. Jay-Z is probably the more talented lyricist, but I think Tupac just made better overall music and has more songs with a great message than Jay has.

The money or number of albums thing doesnt even come into play. Jay-Z has only put out a couple more albums than Tupac has (despite being deceased), but if Pac was alive to actually promote his music it would likely be a different story as far as how much money his posthumous albums generated.

Plus he wouldve been able to get endorsement deals and what have you. At the time of his death there werent many rappers who had major endorsements from giant sponsors like nowadays.

Pac was not a great lyricist but great at emotion and delivery.

Jay (at his best) is one of the best lyrically. And he can adapt very easily to whatever track he is on. Stronger discography too. And I'm not even a Jay-Z fan really.

Pac and Biggie were in the game for the same amount of time and in that time, Big did 2 albums. Followed by 3 posthumous albums which, collectively, only had maybe 1 album worth of new content on it. Whereas Pac, despite his prison sentence, did 5 movies and recorded some 20+ albums worth of music. I easily put Pac over Biggie simply because while ready to die is easily a top 5 hip hop album, his discography had only a couple dozen 5 star tracks to me. Whereas Pac is well, well, into the triple digits.

Also the legacy of Biggie began and ended with his music. Pac himself was a goddamn enigmatic person. Pac wouldn't be my favorite artist if I didn't have so much love for the man himself. Plus he was more legit to me as far as the political and socially conscious, educational, story telling, military minded shit which is what I fuck with heavy.

Think of Biggies biggest song. Did you think of Juicy?

Now think of Biggies other big songs, mostly party songs.

Meanwhile Pacs biggest songs are things like changes, ain't mad at chu, picture me rolling, Brenda's got a baby, wonder why they call you B****, staring though my review, life goes one, etc etc.

Pac gets a lot of his love because he was fighting the good fight. He was almost always fighting the good fight.

People resonate with that. IMO pac has better lyrics when it comes to reality raps. Biggie just has better jams.

Pac's more real and more conscious.

Jay has better lyrics, wordplay, flow, and punchlines. And better songs on average.
