I have watched more stuff

Nakanohito Genome
-So this is kinda like Danganronpa with some assassination classroom style vibes going on? Everyone is an expert in a particular genre of game and they have to complete tasks to get to like super internet famous or something... despite the fact that most of them are already popular streamers. I don't think they really explain the rules very well besides you do these arbitrary tasks that, at least in the first episode, had barely anything to do with a game. This is also tonally all over the place like they can't decide what type of show they want this to be.

Lord El-Melloi II Case Files
Note: I only saw the EP0 prologue but I count that as like a primer for the show.
-I've always found the main fate franchise to be only a "pretty okay show" overall. But Waver from Fate/Zero was one of the highlights to the show so I was not just watching this out of obligation to give it a shot and hoping it might be interesting. It wasn't. Granted, Waver was the best thing in this episode but the rest of it is like... not good. It still has all the bad fate style dialogue mixed in with an overall episode story that doesn't really feel like they were trying at all.

Skilled Teaser Takagi S2
-I'd like to introduce you to the best show of the season. Super cute obviously, Takagi is one of my favorite anime characters in the past few years. 4Head.

Ensemble Stars!
-So, this is based on a card game or something. So, I know the reason why the main girl is a producer, it's like the player or viewer or whatever probably. But like, I still think it's lame that they make the only girl in the show basically a manager or the same thing she'd be in a show directed at males. Not saying that there are no other shows that make this work, both B*Ambitious and Music Girls (Both slightly below average idol shows) had the main character basically be an industry support role and it probably made both of them better. Production-wise, this is pretty impressive for the genre, but still pretty generic for the start. That was until they have like an idol battle or something at the end? I'm actually not exactly sure what was happening there. This is not terrible.

Re:Stage! Dream Days
-The designs of the girls are very cute. I also like how they slowly introduced the characters versus just unloading them all at once like a lot of idol shows do (albeit... a lot of idol shows do have huge casts so it's really more out of necessity). Some of the production quality though is not that good. I was surprised though that there was an actually animated dance sequence (basically the entire budget). I'm interested if they will continue to do 2D idol sequences. The story premise is not very interesting but I mean they really never are in an idol show now.

Hensuki
-My god, the animation in this show is so derp. In several places, it looks like they are dragging a cutout of the character into the frame. The structure of the episode is also paced oddly and it makes it hard to keep track of things. It introduces some of the girls in the show but I don't really have a good grasp on any of their personality tropes besides the reveal at the end. It's also not very funny for a show that should have some good material to work with.

Arifureta
-Like I read the premise of this on MAL and... what? First off, it seems like he actually has friends or people who want to help him from his class. Next, his base power doesn't seem that bad and either has various applications he just is not using OR the writing is just so bad that he basically gave him an extremely gimped FMA power and called it a day. I mean they even establish that his ability does something moderately useful in the heat of a battle. The guy does a complete personality 180 for no reason at all too. I don't understand how they can make a character from being completely unbearable, to fairly likable, to completely "ugh no" in a matter of a single episode... quite a feat. Pacing and actual structure issues aside this is just so inconsistent on just about every single level. This just seems very poorly planned. Also, the voice acting in this is also not good.

Young Nobunaga
-So we have the 9001th show based on Nobunaga is some way. I'm going to list the shows I consider to be good: Nobunaga Concerto, The Ambition of Oda Nobuna (Genderbend), and that's it. Even though overall the character of Nobunaga is pretty likable in this first episode (which is actually more than some other adaptations go where he's just kinda of there)... that's not really enough to make this anything more than another Nobunaga anime. Because almost every show that focuses on him in some way drives home that some way that how he was different from those around him.

Vinland Saga
Note: I only saw one episode and will watch the other two at the start of week 3.
-I think this was good, although I do think a longer than average episode for barely a setup kind of hurts it. At least the overall setup they are going for is pretty obvious, even if you didn't read the synopsis (I didn't) I can pretty much tell what's going to happen before the show breaks into what it's really going to be about (some history knowledge also helps). I do find it kind of "eh" that Thorfinn has like never heard of stories of his ancestors fleeing from oppression before. Usually, that would be kind of a narrative "fine" but they do seem to dwell on it. Still, this will probably be a good show.

Cop Craft
-Right now I like how they are portraying the two central characters. They are making it entertaining while also maintaining a sense of authenticity (as much as you can have with some alien girl). I liked things like "boliceman" etc. The show already has some good character and world foundations. The animation is kind of bad.

first time one of the other VA do a solo Kizunai AI game video and people are flipping out because they tried to be cute with it and made this VA mimic the original AI and try to pass it off as the real thing

probably would have been better if they let the second AI that sounds like Tennouji Nae do the solo debut first since she was frequently on the game channel for the past week and people recognize her easily

the like to dislike ratio though lmao

nobody knows for sure but around a month or two ago she did a few videos introducing the concept of different "aspects" of AI, and equating aspects to different voices, as a way to prep people for this moment for who knows what reason

like maybe her original VA is getting work in the anime industry? she's still in the majority of the videos but she has been pairing for the Tennouji Nae AI on the game channel for a while now

oh and she did a 3rd birthday stream a few weeks back to reveal a Chinese Kizuna AI >_>

Granbelm Ep1 - magical girls who pilot robots using their magic it seems. The robots are kinda weird and chibi-like though and the fight has no meaning because it hasnt explained much of anything. A long time ago 7 mages sealed all the magic in the world away, but all of these girls are using magic robots and it doesnt explain how. Like apparently theyre all fighting to become top mage, but it doesnt say why either. One of the girls has an amazing bloodline apparently and tries to beat not-Homura who says she stands no chance because bloodlines arent everything and then later in the episode the main girl who has never even heard of magic unleashes some EXCALIBUR level magic sword beam so she is clearly probably related to one of these 7 mages who removed all magical from the world in the first place so lol. For a first episode it didnt really explain even the premise. Will probably wait to hear whether this one is worth going back to or not

Ive seen more things

Isekai Cheat Magician
-Literally, the only good thing about this was the random trainer lady with the great hair. I mean from like a first episode perspective this is only slightly better than Smartphone's start (a show many people consider to be among the all time worse "watchable" anime) and significantly worse than Death March (a show that is only in the average category).

A Certain Scientific Accelerator
-This was probably among the best starts I think this could have. Accelerator is like just the right amount of edge and emo combo you can possibly get imo. Last Order is wonderful too. However, it still does the lame thing that this franchise just does... and that's I don't understand how people constantly underestimate academy city's strongest espers. By this time now (since Accelerator is already injured) everyone knows how strong he is and that any form of logic would indicate they had no real chance. Same thing happens with Misaka Mikoto too in her series where you see adults, in positions where they would know full well who she is, and tell her to just stand back when in reality she's in no real danger and they should be telling the other guys to back down or just be fried.

The Demon Girl Next Door
-lmfao, this was great. We have a demon girl who is basically a not quite as good Satania (but still good) and a magical girl who is also pretty good. Super Cute.

Given
-On a production level, this show is very good. It also looks great in terms of its overall aesthetics. But, there is like something a little off about the overall timing of the show that kind of bothers me, not enough to say it was a bad episode though.

MomMMORPG
-I think this had a bunch of "that's cute" type moments but nothing extremely funny. Like the thing with the ding when the mom gets the book or "account" were pretty good. It's good that this is so self-aware. The mom has some amazing facial expressions.

DanMachi S2
-This episode was great. I'm really glad because the Sword Oratoria spin-off was so bland. It did a lot like get in a lot of the major characters, introduce potential conflicts, add in more comedy, mild fan service. Basically hit every box for a sequel to a show that hasn't aired in quite a while.

I wasn't sure what was really going on a lot of the time, but everything else very much made up for it. Also love how the fairies were basically Stands, I loved it. Good ass show. Would recommend for the soundtrack alone.

I watched the first OVAs a few years back. They weren't good at all. There were some okay characters, but the romance aspects were awful and Tenchi sucked as a protagonist. Pretty typical harem trash.

That's no reason for it not to be popular though. I mean, Infinite Stratos was huge.

You realize that Tenchi is like probably the original harem anime by most metrics so most harems that have come after it are going to share several similarities with it. Something like IS is just like the LCD of the genre.

It was, but Tenchi 100% influenced the genre much more and is the basis of what the genre is today. Ranma 1/2 is more of an action comedy type with harem elements. Saying Ranma (or something like Invader Lum) is the basis what the harem has become is like saying Donkey Kong Arcade is the father of the platformer when in reality everyone knows that it's Super Mario Bros.

popularity only matters to a point. I don't think you can call Tenchi Muyo, a series which had its one of its spin-off air on Toonami, unpopular either. A game like GoldenEye sold a lot, but it really has more of a legacy versus being influential because of the usage of two-stick. On that btw, Halo popularized it but I believe Alien: Resurrection for the PSX was among the first games to actually use it. But in this case, I would call that game a little too... not played enough to qualify for being actually influential. Although I believe two-stick movement would have become the norm eventually even if Halo didn't use it. It might just have taken another year.

But sometimes you are the first and the best. Look at something like Ocarina of time with Z-Targeting (Lock on WITH 3D movement) which I believe was the first case of 3D movement with a targeting system in a game. TBH I'm surprised by this because Ocarina of time is not an early title for the N64, so I guess some of it might have to do with the difference in development cycles back then. Although it has evolved over the two decades since the release the influence of it can clearly be seen in other titles, especially in things like the Souls series and its offshoots. Sure other games had lock-on before OOT, even games on its own system. But no one is going to say something like Star Fox 64 influenced the lock-on mechanic as we know it in 3D games.

Goldeneye helped the fps genre come to the console but if you play a more modern console fps it doesn't feel or play like it all so it's hard to call it the origin of the modern console fps because the control scheme and just overall feel it had was only around for thr n64 days.

Ranma is probably an influential title as it introduced elements of a harem along with the comedy it had to anime in a work that was popular, but harems that have come out have taken a page from tenchi over it.

Although I will admit I used my words poorly when I said the original harem anime when I really meant the origin of the modern harem. Although I'd still say that in comparison shows like invader lum and Rama 1/2 only have harem elements and dont really feel like they belong in the genre.

That was actually a little frustrating because on the concept and gag side of things that really worked for me, but the visuals don't pull their weight at all. Nothing wrong with the designs or anything, but it's so static and bland it's like it doesn't even HAVE a director. Hopefully the extended cast will make this watchable, but I don't know if this is gonna work for me, since it's not like budget is the issue.

That said, after Wotakoi, nothing is set in stone for a show like this.
