Just because something is the most profitable doesn't mean that it's good quality, much less the best quality.

GDP, stock prices, P/E ratios, etc., are all flawed metrics that don't actually give a good examination of how well a society is functioning .

That's quite the logical leap you make there.

i think blizzard's internal leadership is more to blame for blizzard's decline than activision, they seemed really out of touch with their core audience and the market in general

Blizzard's leadership got taken over, or taking orders from Activision's people, though.

Well, yeah. The quality of something matters only as much as it helps make profits. A free market system has no goal other than to make as much profit as possible.

I wouldn't say those metrics are flawed, you are just trying to link them to something they shouldn't be linked to because they are not intended to measure how well a society is functioning.

blizzard entertainment operates as a separate BU under activision blizzard, it had its own leadership structure & all that. i doubt activision was calling the shots for all of blizzard's games, seems like they're just getting really involved now because blizzard fucked up for like a decade straight

Hasn't been that way in a long time. Most of the higherups at blizzard have left and a lot of them replaced by activision.

And yet, many do take today's profits as an indicator of "how well a society is functioning."
