I've already beaten all of Uncharted games and enjoyed the multiplayer while it was very active...same goes for CoD, RDR, Halo, etc...

To support the smaller developers/studios so they bring more or make more of the games I want to the west.

People gotta get that game on day 1 so they can play online and get the cheevements. Some of those games are 15 years old and online play has been dead for ages! But I buy old and used games all the time. Mostly single player games that I can enjoy on my time.

If its a new game that youve been eagerly anticipating froma series that you love its understandable that you might want to play the game as soon as its out. I almost never buy games new though

The sad thing is that you can now pre order games at sale prices before they've even released (FFVII Remake for $40 and Cyberpunk 2077 for $50 are a few examples).

It only takes about a year (sometimes less) for new games to be available at clearance prices.

After a year most games are $20-$30. Thats cheap but not exactly clearance prices

I want to play a game that I've been excited for the day it's available, sure some games can be a "wait and buy it later" but some games you "have to have" at launch.

People can also save up plenty of money for release day, even a fast food worker can afford $60 games if they are smart with their money, most people who have good jobs don't even sweat $60 as they are not hurting for money at all.

I will be getting Gears 5 and COD Modern Warfare (2019) launch day.

BTW topic creator all those games in that pic are last gen, not a single PS4 or Xbox One game in that image.

Because I love the franchise + good trailers and self control + frugality goes out the window? e.g Kojima games, PG games, DMC, Tekken, Monster Hunter, Borderlands, Ace Combat etc.

If it's Nintendo, because that shit is never going on sale anyway
If it's Atlus because if you don't get it when it releases you'll never find it
If it's a niche game that you see becoming rare
If it's something you'd like to play right away

Smaller budget and localized import games I try to get asap to show support and continue getting them, and also can be hard to find physically later.

Big budget AAA games I tend to have more patience for since they are guaranteed to be cheap and readily available within a couple months.

If it's made by Nintendo, you can't really wait for a price drop.

If it's made by Nintendo, you can't really wait for a price drop.

Also this. Newegg had a deal on the Explorers Edition for Breath of the Wild, where they were charging $70.60. I jumped on that one. First-party Nintendo titles never see a price reduction. They're one of the least likely ones to lower their price.

Eh, I don't see that happening. Game Pass is just an Xbox thing, Gamefly has everything.

Unless Microsoft makes Game Pass a service used by every console, that just has different exclusives available depending on what console you're using.

If nobody buys at full price, the game is a flop.
The devs/publishers lose money.
They make less games in future due to apparent lack of demand.
Possibly shut down.
We need early adopters to keep the industry alive.
