The reality of the situation is that these companies have spent billions of dollars and countless man hours conducting extensive market and psychological research to maximize the mental and emotional impact they can create on consumers with a specific focus on manipulating both children and individuals with gambling addiction. Minimizing it to "teehee just dont b so dum" is extremely ignorant to the actual context of the situation, and is just as stupid of an argument as when people tried it with cigarette companies or any other facet of society that relies on chronically manipulating human behavior in harmful ways to make a profit.

even in a game like overwatch, for example, some people just HAVE to have all of the skins even though you can only ever use one at a time and don't even see it yourself the majority of the time.
