So they just released the final issue (193) of The Walking Dead. They show previews of the upcoming covers a few months in advance and we have covers for several more issues that aren't coming out, they kept this quiet. It's an interesting idea, killing the comic with no warning, showing nothing is safe. No doubt they'll reboot it at some point, there's too much money for them not to revisit it, but for now we have the TV shows and a 2nd spin off coming next year along with the 3 movies so the brand will be around for the next few years.

Issues 1-99:
So Basically a cop named Rick is shot and enters a coma, when he wakes up, he's in a hospital without power or staff. He finds out people are dying and turning into walkers (zombies) and is on a search to find his family. He finds them with a group led by his cop partner (Shane) who was sleeping with Rick's wife. Rick and Shane have some issues and eventually Shane tries to kill Rick before Rick's son Carl shoots Shane in the neck. The group lives in a prison for a while before another community starts a war with them. They eventually settle in Virginia where they meet some other communities and start trading with each other.

Issues 100-192
But then we find out about the Saviors, a group of 100's of people who go around killing walkers in exchange for supplies, but they don't play nice. Rick and friends beat the Saviors and we jump forward in time a few years. Everything is nice, we're rebuilding civilization and we have bread, but we encounter walkers that can talk and use weapons. They call themselves the Whisperers (they whisper and the dead don't mind) and it's later revealed they are human nomads who skin walkers and mimic them to blend in. Rick wins and we make radio contact with a new community in Ohio called the Comonwealth, a community with 50,000 people. This place has so many supplies and resources they don't need walls to protect them from the walkers, it's like the way life used to be, with a class system. A civil war breaks out around the time Rick arrives and Rick ends it with a grand speech, everyone loves him, but the Governor's son who is losing clout so he shoots Rick in the middle of the night and kills him. Carl discovers Rick as a walker and puts him down before collapsing. They arrange for Rick to be brought back to Alexandria, Virginia and a whole mess of people come for the ceremony.

Issue 193:
Another time jump happens, 15 years or so. Carl is grown and has a child with Sophia, another survivor from the original group. Carl kills a walker on his property and is worried as walkers being this far in the safe zone is odd. It's discovered to be Hershel's, someone who we only saw as a baby throughout the series before now. Hershel sues and Carl and the trial is eventually overthrown by Michonne, who joined the group back in the prison days. It ends with Carl reading a story to his daughter about how Rick made the world a better place and while I can't do it justice, it really was a beautiful way to end it, I'm just heart broken it's over.

The telltale games take place in the same universe as the comics. I hope if they bring back the comics they introduce Clem and AJ

I did play the telltale game though that shit was awesome

telltale game has different characters and the show has jumped the shark long ago even if you did watch/play all of it, nothing would change

No, I meant Hershel owns the walker and it's considered his property. Apparently after the time jump from 192-193 walkers are very rare so they are valuable now

Ooh. I was like wait what

Kirkman, the guy who made TWD has said many times that Rick would die and that TWD was always about Carl, it was Carl's story. He also said that he would do at least 300 issues so for it to end today really is a shock. It was leaked a few hours before, but in this day and age I think it's impossible to keep anything completely secret, Game of Thrones had issues with it.
