https://www.npr.org/2019/07/03/738146040/this-california-city-has-the-nations-worst-job-market-i-m-applying-everywhere

Just the title of the article is crazy. The woman they interview has no skills and poor circulation in her feet. SHOCKINGLY she has problems getting a job. The article also mentions her adult son doesn't work.

Look, in this economy if you aren't working it's because you aren't looking hard enough or aren't willing to do actual, you know, work.

And if your community doesn't have a decent job market then move man. This country is hungry for laborers. Go where the market is. Jesus.

It's really not. Jobs are out there but most people feel they are above them

The only time I'm annoyed by people complaining about how hard it is to get a job is when they have clear and blatant reasons why nobody would want to hire them (I frequently need off time at a moment's notice due my special situation, etc)

Most everything else is a legitimate argument. You shouldn't need a straight A higher education for most positions that now require it.

Nah its true, especially with unemployment so low.

Also people should move to lower cost of living states.

No dude. It's incredibly difficult to get a job, even in fast food, especially with no skills or experience these days.

This is an obvious (censored) topic and arguing over this will do no good. It's just the typical "everyone is just lazy" argument and the typical sociopathy of certain folks of a certain political ideology.

It certainly is actually if you own a car and dont have anything like a wife/husband or children slowing you down and trapping you within a X location. Apply for work within you neighboring states and live out of your car if need be until you can afford to upgrade. Gyms for showers, and Starbucks, or McDs for wifi.

I grew up in poverty and looking around me youths being stupid and starting familys young is one of the main shackles that hold most of them back come adulthood. Regardless of their dreams, or resolve.

"If you can't find work, just move!"
That is the most idiotic statement I've read all week.

Do you know how expensive moving is?
And most places require proof of income to move in.
So you can't find a job.
Move to find a job.
Can't rent a place because no job.
Now you're fucking homeless.

Do people even think before they spout garbage?

Those reasons haven't stopped illegals crossing the border.

Many of them have family or other connections cross border already.
Not to mention most of them are travelling with nothing more than some clothes.

You try packing up your entire place, moving it all to another area, finding a place to rent, setting up utilities, etc all without finding a job first.

I've moved several times, and it's always incredibly hard and expebsive even while having a steady job.

Edit: Also, good deflection. You actually distracted me from the discussion at hand.
Illegals and how they start a life in the country does nothing to dispute my points.

After my back surgery healed and I couldn't do physical labor anymore I literally walked into a walgreens and walked out with a job in about 40 minutes. It's that simple and all in how you present yourself. Did I ever think I would work at walgreens? Fuck no but it was something at a time I needed a job regardless of what it was

My situation is actually pretty good for someone barely making a living wage and it's overall gonna take me ~2 years to save up to move and not worry about going broke within a year.

Though to be fair I'm moving to a more expensive place.
