Same with other precious metals that are wasted as decoration fodder.

I'm hoping gen z will see them as the crap they are since it's the baby boomer generation that is most obsessed with them compared to all the other gens.

As jewelry, sure.

That's why I make all my diamonds into katanas.

Isn't the diamond industry a complete monopoly owned by a handful of people?

I know higher end diamond stores kick you out if you take pictures of the diamonds so you can't compare prices.

Yes, and maybe. Sort of like Irish whiskey and The Mouse (Disney)

The industry is so profitable they bought politicians to make laws requiring synthetic diamonds to have markings and pushed everyone out.

"Diamonds are expensive because they are so rare!"

Well then why are there so many stores selling them?

There's literally no reason to buy an actual diamond over moissanite.

And moissanite rings can still be pretty expensive (in the $1000-$2000 range or so).

why even bother with that? Just do cubic zirconia or any other cheap gem, if she really gives a fuck to check the price to see if it's worth a lot, that's a glaring red flag.

Diamonds/Moissanite look better than CZ. If you're going to get CZ you might as well not get anything tbh. But they are definitely the least expensive of the three.

There's many different qualities of CZ.

My wife's ring is CZ and was about $200. Eight years later it's still as shiny as the day I gave it to her and she still gets compliments on it whenever we go out (it's a more unique design - looks kind of like a flower with a bunch of smaller stones winding up the sides).

But yeah there's definitely a lot of CZ that looks like ass and starts fading within a few months.

Back when CZ first hit the streets and few brokers knew about it, they bought them thinking they were diamonds. So don't go spouting corporate non-sense about how they aren't good, because they are good for normal consumers that know shit about it. If a girl gives that much of a fuck about completely worthless gems she's a gold digger.

Not like diamonds and rings meant anything to women before mankind was convinced by a marketing campaign that you must spend at least three months salary on them or you don't love your girl enough see.

LOL

The corporate word is that moissanite is TOO sparkly, which is obviously BS.

You would have to have them side by side to show that CZ isn't as sparkly as a diamond or moissanite, but either way CZ loses its sparkle over time. I think that's because CZ is less hard than the other two stones and scratches relatively more easily.

It's not an investment tho, most you can hope for is that it stays in your family for generations.

Is moissanite harder than diamonds because cz isn't as hard or shiny as a diamond which is something the people who buy diamonds in the first place care about

Moissanite is 9.5 on the Mohs scale.

Moissanite is shinier than diamond (it is really close though)

I'd argue its the complete opposite, as someone that is obsessed with jewelry I noticed that rappers are all getting diamond tennis chains and the big style the past year or so have been getting watches and rings with bagguette diamonds.

Rappers back when they were broke used to wear alot of rope chains with giant pendants but the pendants used to be low quality diamonds, now the new age rappers like lil pump, uzi vert, kodak, etc are getting the giant pendants with VVS diamonds so they have some stupid expensive chains now.
