A White Man in the audience during Mayor Pete Buttigieg's Independence Day Campaign Stop in Iowa yelled out "Black People Should Stop Committing Crimes and Doing Drugs" and he angrily SLAPPED DOWN the heckler who said "Sir, i think that racism is not going to help us get out this"

Boos rang out as the man claimed that had "nothing to do with race" but Buttigieg later clled for an investigation and said "The fact that a black person is four times as likely as a white person to be incarcerated for the exact same crime is evidence of system racism. It is evidence if system racism and with all due respect sir, racism makes it harder for good police officers to do their job too. It is a smear on law enforcement"

The 37 y/o South Bend mayor has struggled with racia issues after a fatal shooting of a black man by a cop in his own hometown

He was in Chicago to address Rev. Jesse Jackson Rainbow PUSH Coalition International Convention Business Breakfast

He used his speech as an opportunity to address these issues and tout his Douglass Plan,named after abolionist Frederick Douglass, to increase economic prosperity in black communities.

He admits that he is struggling with the black community, a strong bloc of Democratic voters, particularly in big cities like Chicago, Philadelphila and says there eare voters that he needs to get to know and who need to get to know him

Pete said "Look when you're new on the scene and you're not from a community of colour, you've got to work much harder in order to earn that trust because trust is largely a function of quanitytime. I'm committed to doing that work"

He was responding to a poll that showed him with 0% support from black supporters as Joe Biden is the best followed by Kamala Harris

If they were 4 times as likely to be falsely incarcerated for the exact same accusation, he would have a point.

A 4x higher incarceration rate is circumstantial evidence of higher crime in black communities.

The incarceration is legitimate, it's just that white people convicted of the same crimes (usually minor ones, like pot possession) tend to see more lenient sentences.
