Unmarked spoilers as I progress if I like the game well enough or think it's worth trashing. This is David Cage after all. If I have absolutely nothing to say on this game, I'll just give my thoughts after I finish it in one post. I've heard good things though so we'll see.

I've just booted it up and the graphics are very good as expected. I'll give Cage and his team that. I'm going with Experienced difficulty setting.

Heads up, Cage is still a hack but the game does have charming moments.

Well shit

I need to be on top of things in this game. Every little detail and second counts. We're gonna save this little girl.

I fucked up and picked the wrong choice on accident. The little girl survived at least but Connor died. Dammit. I liked that little scenario and the post menu or whatever showing all the different possibilities. That's neat. Still expecting Cage to be a hack.

I would've felt for Daniel if he hadn't shot the father and killed some cops.

Its pretty great, This isnt some Telltale game. Youll find that a lot of times your story going a lot differently than someone else who has played it. Youll want to replay it a lot, and its built with that in mind.

It was weird how they switched the ps+ game at the last second. I wonder what the deal is.

I see what they're going for by having androids be at the back of the bus and everything. Not sure how I feel about it.

Yeah, I like the branching paths shown at the end of each segment. I'm glad they switched the PS+ games. Maybe the backlash from the community finally did something for once.

I'm kind of done riding this bandwagon after playing a few hours of Detroit. It's visually the most astounding looking PS4 game I've ever seen and the shot variety as well as music score are impressively bonkers.

I get that Cage's "vision" is supposed to keep the player emotionally engaged by mechanically developing a seemless story but he needs to get his out of his ass and EVOLVE past the stiff tank controls and QTEs. Just write and design your game and hire some dev like Insomniac or Naughty Dog to map the controls logically, it's not hard...

Yeah, the game looks really good. These devs never really disappoint when it comes to graphics. His writing can be good at times. I think Cage just needs other writers who tell him when an idea is really dumb and should be canned. I agree that other devs should handle the gameplay department. At least, the controls of the game and whatnot.

Remember, unmarked spoilers in this topic as I progress throughout the game. Don't want another situation with Danganronpa.

Todd, the dad, is pretty unstable. There will definitely be a confrontation with him in the future. Also, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be obvious but Alice, the daughter, is definitely an android. When Kara was cleaning up Todd's room, some magazine or something dropped into the ground showing some little girl who looked like Alice. Granted, it was blurred out intentionally. That's probably some daughter android or something. Didn't help that Kara stared at it for a hot minute. Don't think it's been stated whether or not Todd's wife left him or died but the little girl in the picture in Alice's room looked nothing like Alice herself. I hope it's not some huge twist later on in the game if I'm right.

Anyways, I liked the attention to detail such as Kara carefully stepping over Alice's book on the floor. Little moment like that are neat in video games. This segment was a little bit of a slow burner but I liked it. The calm before the storm, as they say.

Detroit is a great game overall, with its biggest issue being its utter lack of subtlety. I recently beat the game three times (a blind first run, a run where I largely picked the opposite choices as my first time all game long, and a run where I picked the worst options possible at any given point) and really enjoyed it.

My advice: Pick how your characters will act and try to stay-in character with each one. It's fun to keep the characters consistent and try to act how "they" would act rather than how you necessarily want to. Granted, you may not get as good of an ending that way, but it's a fun way to play.

I'll try but there will probably be more times where I hit a button prompt on accident like in Connor's first segment with the hostage situation.

I loved it, but I also loved Heavy Rain which people seem not to I guess?

Heavy Rain is bad to the point of being good imo. I hated the reveal of the origami killer but some of the glitches and QTE failures were hilarious.

Is Markus going to go down the path of being the leader of some revolution or something? Seems that way with Carl saying he may not be around much longer and that Markus needs to find his own path. His story seems to involve androids being mistreated.

Don't know if you just pause the game when done playing, but I recommend backing all the way out. Title screen girl has a ton of different dialogue and you'll miss it if you never go back.

And the remark about Marcus going down the road to revolutionary? Funniest thing I've seen is playing him as a huge smack-talking leader that backs down at the first sign of confrontation.

I just had Kara murder Todd. That was crazy. Curious to see how it would have played out if I reasoned with him or maybe went for the window instead. So, the mother did leave Todd. Doesn't explain why she would leave the kid behind unless the kid wasn't actually a human being or Todd won custody. Or maybe she was just a bad person.

No what I'm saying is I genuinely love the game as is. Very few games sucked me in as much

Yeah, I understand what you were saying. It was generally engaging for me as well up to a certain point.

I definintely back out often to see what the title screen girl says. I noticed she has different things to say whenever I boot up the game. Reminds me of free VN game I played a while back on Steam.

R.I.P. Carl. Leo is an asshole. Didn't even seem bothered by his father passing away. Wish there was a little more of Carl and Markus and their relationship so that the "Dad" line hit harder.
