18 y/o Lake Little from Mississippi, a Pageant Queen Winner was Killed after she was practicing take offs and landings and NOSE DIVED just as she got her PILOT'S LICENSE on her FIRST DAY of practicing!!

She was practicing "touch and go" takeoffs and landings in a single engine plane affiliated with Civil Air Patrol when she suddenly crashed at 3:15pm on the Ole Miss Golf Course

She was the ONLY person on board and suffered "serious burns in the crash" and she is the daughter of Ward 3 Alderman David Little

She was also going to the University of Southern Mississippi student this fall

No one on the ground was injured as the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are now investigating the accident.

Witness Britan Scott Ripee was on the golf course when he saw the small plane fall out of the sky and nose dived into the ground.

He said "We were on hole 9, it looked like it was landing and then aborted the landing and we saw it struggle to come back up. Then when we were walking off the green, it just fell straight down into the trees"

Lake was also supposed to compete in the July Mississippi Miss Hospitality Pageant.

Governor Phil Bryant mourned her death and said it was a terrible tragedy who offered condolences

Do you think there should be a qualified passenger for people who just got their pilot's license??

While its unfortunate if she had her license that means she passed whatever was required to get her license so she didnt need a copilot. Now if its too easy to get a license without much experience flying then it should just be required to practice more time flying with a copilot before earning the license.

It's too hard tbh.

There's a massive deficiency of pilots because it requires ridiculous amounts of hours of training to do basic things.

To me, it sounds like the plane was defective.

Sounds like it had engine trouble and she tried to keep the nose up and ended up stalling the plane. It's a common enough mistake, especially in a stressful situation and with an inexperienced pilot.

Poor girl. Her family must be devastated. Definitely sounds to me like it was more of an issue with the plane than with her.

I always wanted to be a pilot, but I'm mostly blind in my right eye and I was told that would disqualify me.
