It's just too much. If you can't grasp half the stuff on your TV remote control then how you gonna even come close to understanding a computer?

I work for AT&T U-Verse Tech Support and I hate helping old people the most. They are the most incompetent people in the world when it comes to everything. Honestly, they should just stick to basic cable, read the newspaper and listen to the radio. That stuff will never die out and they are the easiest things to use. New electronics technology aren't user friendly. Hell, I don't even understand most of it so how am I suppose to educate them?

Just today I had an old man call in. Just had everything U-Verse installed and just purchased a brand new Dell laptop. Doesn't know how to use a lick of anything he just bought. Now technicians that come to your premises to install your services usually does most of the educating. How to connect to wifi, get to the router settings, changing SSID, wireless password, which or what needs to be plugged in, ect ect ect. Tech leaves his house and within the hour the dude calls in and I was the lucky fella to get him. The dude is clueless to do anything. Everything the tech told him he already forgot how to do it. He was unable to understand the directions the tech left on paper for him as well.

Basically he thought I was some sort of wiz that could walk him through using his computer and slowly teach him how to use it. Off the bat I tell this old man the only thing I can do is help him with U-Verse services and products. I told him if he wanted help with using his computer then he should refer to the computer manufacturer(Dell) or the operating system of the computer(Microsoft). He got mad and wanted to cancel. Man I love old people so much

I'm so serious. You can't teach an old dog new tricks. They're set in their ways.

Reminds me of one of the VIP users here. He's so tech-illiterate that I once told him to hit the Enter Key (to begin to login process), and he asked me what the Enter Key was. He is also among the many VIP users who were given Surface Pros for the purpose of working remotely and to remote-connect to their work PC, and he barely knows how to work it.

He's cool otherwise, but I can't say that I'm not awaiting the day he retires (probably within the year).
