And Far From Home is outperforming Homecoming...and Captain Marvel Outperformed every solo MCU film except Black Panther and iron man 3...and Endgame outperformed infinity war...

I don't think they expect any solo film to outperform Cap Marvel.

In fairness, Star Wars was supposed to be guaranteed profits too, then Solo landed. It will stop one day, and may well be a sudden drop and not a gradual decrease.

And I say it is a possibility to happen sooner rather than later. Spidey's doing alright, but Marvel's right to use it is tied with Sony and could go at any time for little other reason than a dick measuring contest. We've lost 2 of the popular Avengers, and the movie will imitate many years of low selling comics if the team is made up of too many second stringers. Some of the new franchises, support them or don't, let's not pretend that cultural politics contributed to some of those high sales and won't repeat when BP and CM are just another sequel.

The big hit however is the loss of Thanos and the infinity stones project. The build up to that drove a lot of sales, and without it or competent writers going forward, we could sink back to Iron Man 2 / Thor the Dark World levels of quality. The MCU's built up a lot on that plan and I'm not sure how long it will survive if it falls back purely into good guys in funny suits fighting bad guys in funny suits again.

Star wars is, no one wanted a han prequel it was blasted before it was released and nothing altered that perception. Solo was a movie that had more ways to fail than succeed. If you're going to make up a story for an already beloved character that requires a recast you need near perfection.

Rogue 1 still made a billion dollars. There is a marker for star wars

Yeah it pulled 600m in a week, Homecoming made 800 in its entire run.

Very likely FFH will break the 1B mark at this pace.

Of course Spider-Man isn't going to do as well as Endgame. Infinity War and Endgame had every single A- and B-list actor in the Marvel movie franchise, and Endgame was specifically billed as the end of a saga. It's the second best-grossing movie of all time, not adjusting for inflation.

Spider-Man is business as usual - it's a return to the Marvel formula they'll be going back to, and it's the end of this current phase of Marvel movies that they're using to set the tone for the next series of movies. So no, it doesn't have the appeal that Endgame has. And I think Disney knows that.
