Like, may show up so drugged/drunk that literally other family members, possibly even you, just leave the gathering altogether?

Its pretty awkward.

At a recent family gathering, my cousin showed up and 5 minutes later punched a family friend in her face.

Or one that wants to argue and fight and then just acts confused when you leave instead of argue and fight.

Some people seemingly legit enjoy fighting and yelling even if theyre wrong and seem actually upset that you didnt want to fight back.

I dont get that at all.

Sometimes I suspect my husband and I are those people. Not that we are dramatic or argumentative or anything...we're actually introverts and tend to look at gatherings and trips with more than like two other people as a chore, especially if there are kids present as we don't have any of our own and don't particularly take joy in other people's.So we just hang around quietly and awkwardly in the shade off to the side while everyone else is laughing and running around and being loud. They would never tell us so but I wonder if we don't come off as a couple of Debbie Downers. We only show up at family things out of a sense of obligation, and they probably invite us out of obligation, as well.
