A reddit thing on the front page right now talks about realizing youve zoned out and not zoning back in.

I dont think Ive ever done this. If I space out or start daydreaming, as soon as I realize what Im doing, I stop.

I think so. If I don't have to be focused or productive, I can definitely lose sense of place and zone out even when I realize I'm doing it... it's more when I'm working or something like that that I would immediately snap out of it

Ive zoned out multiple times while driving and when I finally realized it I was 10 miles past my offramp. Mindless tasks are boring.

kinda like when you wake up and just zone out there while you wake up

This is my signature, there are many others like it, but this one is mine.
If you take 110% of what I say seriously then you're gonna have a bad time.

If anxiety has taught me anything it's that the mind can make us feel so many things are real when they are just a feeling so I'd say it's possible. For me if I'm aware then I'm no longer zoned out though.

I'm not sure it's possible, unless you're referring to zoning back out right after.

That is dissociation. I can get it badly after working long days.

I was sitting in a McDonald's drive-through and started thinking about being in an interrogation room. Then I was in an interrogation room daydreaming about sitting in my car. I started crying because I was so shocked from the crime (in my head I didn't commit) that I was stuck in this weird daydream state.

The McDonald's lady had to snap me out of it. Weird that your brain can construct an entirely new reality like that.

Then there was this other time I was working my boring job and became a mountain creature playing the violin (in my head, I didn't act any differently on the outside, like I was on total autopilot). This was a point in time where I was worried that I was losing my mind, but no, just severe dissociation from boredom and anxiety.

Vision is either entirely or half cut and replaced with imaginary scenarios out in these states for me.
