For the past 3-4 years, Ive probably been modded a total of 2 times.

Then last month I posted about my twitch channel to let people know Im streaming and got modded for advertising. Which is fine, I dont care.

Then a week later I get modded for a particular rude thing, but it wasnt terrible. Ive said much worse in my time here and never got modded for it before. And whats worse is that the topic was like 4 days old and sitting close to purge. Makes no sense.

Then today I get modded for a post that only had one sentence. It said because youre a bad troll. Thats all I said.

Really? Im clearly being targeted because of my hot mod history. This shit is stupid

you can't call other people trolls for some reason

it's either counted as flaming or trolling, which is ironic

this last hidden rule change only helps the woke trolls, but it has also been cracking down hard on all the trolls who used to think they were hot shit, turns out they're just shit

My friend that's flaming even if the poster in question is a one bit gimmick troll

There's really no tolerance on that. You could call someone a fully loaded baked potato and it could be flaming, mod history or not. You also did not have any mod history prior to that mod. Flaming is just no tolerance

On a similar note, there's something I'd like some mod input on, if you don't mind, @Doctor_Foxx.

It hurts you here how exactly? Your credit score? Chances at curing cancer? Becoming the best juggler in your county?

Not really seeing how this affects you in your life. I'm sorry

If I wasn't such a nice person I would probably ignore moderation entirely and destroy my account.

Gamefaqs isn't an especially valuable experience. It's all about Reddit nowadays and that place is massive enough to find a decent community for just about anything.

I guess I mostly come back here because it's been around in some form since Gamewinner's days.

I would look up cheat codes (remember those?) on that site but they often directed me here.

Literally everything you mentioned was a case of "Fair, next."

It's not so much that you're being punished for having a moderation history, it's that you were probably previously getting away with things you should have been modded for.

Oh no. Repeatedly breaking the rules gives harsher punishments.

Standards don't exist if that's the case. The whole point of a written code of law is that justice is doled out EQUALLY, which is not the case if people get different punishments, or are punished for things nobody else is.

No system of law on Earth has ever actually worked this way.

Punishments exist to deter problem behaviours in the future. If somebody that doesn't have a history of problematic behaviour commits a ToU violation, there's little reason to expect that they need that deterrent to keep them from committing more violations. If somebody does have that history, then you've got a pattern that needs fixing.

Remember that deleting posts is generally not a desirable outcome, given how much it disrupts conversations. If it can be avoided without compromising the social environment they want to maintain here, that's ideal. This is why NWD's are now a thing, since it offers a way for mods to say "hey don't do that" without having to deal with missing posts. To that end, if somebody doesn't need moderation to keep that environment in line, they won't mod them. It makes sense.
