Like, in terms of changing the local air temperature so much as to affect the climate? Or because of the increase in power consumption?

so a/c s don't emit waste or gases that lead to climate change?

No. Air conditoning systems are hardly to blame for a lot of climate change.

I blame the following for climate change:

Water vapor from warming atmosphere.
Carbon dioxide from respiration, volcanic eruptions, deforestation, land use changes, and fossil fuel burning.
Methane from landfill decomposition, agriculture, rice cultivation, livestock, etc.
Nitrous oxide from soil cultivation practices, commercial and organic fertilizers, fossil fuel consumption, nitric acid production, and biomass burning.
Chlorofluorocarbons from industrial origins.

If y'all don't know how air conditioning works, you shouldn't be allowed to use it. Hardship breeds innovation.

Here's the thing too.

If it is, we're screwed.

It's to the point people have to run them to avoid literally dying.

Anyone remember when the hear wave hit the UK and people literally died because they don't really have AC because they haven't needed them?

So if it is too much of a factor many people will die either way. Unless, you know, they actually use the information about alternative energy. Which they won't.

That's one of the positive feedback loops that contributes to climate change spiraling out of control. Temperatures increase, meaning more people need to use AC, meaning more power generation is needed, meaning GHG emissions get worse, meaning temperatures continue increasing.
