What is the best card in your opinion? I'm new to all this but have to apply now that I'm married and we might go on vacations every year.

I've been mostly using my Amazon Prime Chase Visa and a Discover It card.

I'm sure there are better cards out there but these have worked for me so far.

Just a Chase Freedom Unlimited for rewards. 1.5x on everything + 250 signup bonus, no need to change my spending habits with the quarterly rotating garbage.

You can Google what the best cards are. There is a really good site that compares everything so you can get the card that works best for you.

I have an AMEX but I'm thinking of getting either the Chase Sapphire card or the capital one venture. I'm not always sold on those co-branded airline specific cards.

Bank of America Cash Rewards (3% back on a category of your choice, 2% on grocery and wholesale clubs, and 1% on everything else)

Also have a Wells Fargo card that is just 1% on everything but it was my first card when I was 18 so I keep it for the credit history and backup if the other card doesnt work

If I got another one, Id get the Citi double cash so Id never get less than 2% back

Dont really travel or eat out enough to make those type of cards worthwhile

I have a Discover It and a capital one venture one card which are pretty decent since they both have no annual fees and have sign up bonuses. I also opened an amex everyday card this weekend that should hopefully arrive this week.

Chase Amazon Prime for 5% back on everything on Amazon

Citi Double Cash for 2% back on everything else

Don't travel often, and everything other than cashback doesn't seem worth it or too much of a hassle to use.

The travel cards aren't worth it if you only fly a few times a year, even the ones without an annual fee. So get one that has cash back.

Capital One Venture. Only got it because no international fees, but the airline miles are pretty cool too.

Most travel rewards arent worth it due to blackout times, expiration dates, or other hurdles to jump through. The ones that have the best travel rewards usually have high annual fees, and at that point you might as well save that money And put it towards a trip.

Personally I have a quicksilver, freedom, and IT. Quicksilver is the most simple. 1.5% on everything and I dont think there is a minimum to redeem. The other two offer 1% back on all purchases, but also offer categories for 5% that rotate on a quarterly basis. Chase has a minimum to redeem, but I dont remember if discover does. I use it the least because it has the highest interest. None of these three have annual fees.

We have Amex with Marriott bonvoy. We use our points every year on a nice vacation somewhere. This year it was the Bahamas. We prefer using points for hotels over flights. Seems to be a better return.

Chase Sapphire Reserve. It's my only cc at the moment. 3x for travel and dining purchases, 1x for everything else.

I use the points on flights mostly because they give you an extra 50% on top of the points.

With the $450 annual fee you need to be spending something like $15,000 per year to break even (there's a $300 travel credit as well making it $150 in points that you have to accrue to pay for itself). But that number is a lot less with the 3x multiplier.

I ended up applying for a Hyatt credit card. I can easily get 2 free nights per year.
