Pretty sure it's a bad thing, yeah. It'll likely cause you problems as you continue and especially when putting up more weight.
You should be getting a good bend at your hips and pushing your butt out when performing the exercise. Possibly, it can mean you're not sitting back into your squat with your hips first, which puts a bunch of shear force on your knee joint.
