For your knees specifically.

Buff CEmen help me out. I cannot squat without my knees being waayyyy in front of my toes.

Pretty sure it's a bad thing, yeah. It'll likely cause you problems as you continue and especially when putting up more weight.

You should be getting a good bend at your hips and pushing your butt out when performing the exercise. Essentially you want to mimic the motion of sitting down in a chair.

Possibly, it can mean you're not sitting back into your squat with your hips first, which puts a bunch of shear force on your knee joint.
