That is the idea but in practice it doesnt work like that, at all. In my state if you make minimum wage but work full time, you arent eligible for food stamps, because you make too much money. As a result, all those people that need a bit of help and are trying.... well they just fucked themselves. Jokes on them because working 20-30hrs a week and getting food stamps puts them in a worse spot financially than working 40hrs and not having food stamps.
