I'm ugly with it too and it's pretty hot here for the summer.

I'm too lazy to shave regularly

I like having a beard. I need something to stroke while thinking, and I've been told it's inappropriate to stroke other parts of myself around others.

I used to look good without a beard, but I wore a goatee anyway because I'm one of those people who would shave in the morning and then have a 5 o'clock shadow by noon. And that was sort of before society had reached the point where it is now where people are mostly fine if you've got a face full of scruff. But it was more acceptable with a beard.

These days I mostly keep the goatee, let it grow out into a beard, then trim it back to a goatee from time-to-time because I've gotten so used to seeing my face with a beard, it just looks weird without it now.

I always have anything between stubble and a short beard. I can't do a full shave because I always get bad razor bumps afterward. I just trim it periodically, and only really shave it off for special events.

I look ugly no matter the case, ok?. Still it started with me being lazy. Then apparently I look better with my facial hair so I decided to trim it and keep it. It's not a full beard but it's something so eh.

Edit: Does the TC have beard envy and can't grow one himself? It's ok to have beard envy man. I know I certainly do everytime I see Gandalf.

Because I'm black and get terrible skin irritation from shaving frequently. In fact it's the "close shave" that makes it worse, because my hair curls before breaching the skin. The breakouts are so bad it looks like a cystic infection.

Laziness, mostly.

When I worked in an office every day, I was clean-shaven, but because I am part-Wookiee I still wound up with a 5:00 shadow by noon. When I started working from home, I kept shaving for a while out of habit, but I eventually just dropped it to a couple times a week on days I had to teach my martial arts classes. Eventually I concluded that I actually looked pretty good with a short beard and just decided to not bother with shaving, save for clean ups and trimming.

I thought about shaving it. But my girlfriend politely requested that I keep it. She hasn't seen me without it. She says the beard was a big part of the initial attraction.

I never even knew this was a black thing until someone here told me a couple years ago. Hadn't heard it anywhere else and no one I knew mentioned it. Or maybe I'm just more susceptible than others.
