I've gotten a couple games for free thanks to Amazon being a day late, though it did require me to bitch at customer service. I'm probably going to stick with Best Buy for anything I need on launch day from now on.

The reason to pre order is so you don't have to remember the release date and order it then. That's the only reason to of ever pre ordered.

Is it really that important to add a new game to your back log on release day?

First and only time I bought a game from Amazon was a digital version that they shipped to me. They shipped me a case with a download code inside. They couldn't just email me the code or generate a code on the website. Nope, they shipped me a digital code through the mail.
