I called the other person's insurance company right away. They said to bring it into a shop and they'll cover repairs. I wasn't able to do so and kinda forgot about it.
I looked online and it says cased is closed. About to call the company to confirm if I can still bring it in. Do you think they'll let me or is there a time limit? ... Copied to Clipboard!

You should be able to still get a claim payout, get a repair estimate and give the company a call.

Not sure why you would call instead of letting your insurance company handle it.

Well the only step left to do was to bring it into one of their shops.

Not sure why you would call instead of letting your insurance company handle it. Based on what I've experienced in the last 2 years, if the other person has insurance then you contact their insurance company and tell them their client goofed(or you goofed). Then after some description they tell you to use an app or get someone to estimate it. Be careful taking a random check as it can be their final. In my one instance the actual repair was 5300 and they only offered 2400ish so it'd be about 3k out of our pocket or to go crawl to our insurance. In that case our insurance company went after them to make them pay the extra amount. You go to yours if they don't have insurance or you feel you're getting snubbed... like repair shop says 4k and they only offer 2k. If you go to yours first they'll probably tell you to go file a claim with the other person's company. ... Copied to Clipboard!

You don't have to take it to their shop, they just say that because that shop is beholden to whatever estimate the insurance company comes up with, which makes it easier and cheaper for them. You are legally entitled to have your vehicle repaired at any collision center of your choice. Shops that participate in these sort of insurance "preferred" programs usually have to bend over backwards for the insurance company and are less likely to advocate on your behalf when it comes to repairs.

Any reputable insurance company will let you pay your deductible than refund it when they get paid from the other company. Making it so they are representing you with all their lawyers if the other guys insurance isn't reputable --- If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all ... Idk, if it's cut and dry property damage with other party 100% at fault I recommend just making a claim on their insurance. --- The Legend is True! ... Copied to Clipboard!
