So I'm a big Warcraft III fan, I must have played thousands of hours back 10-15 years ago. But I never got to play WoW back then, even though I really wanted to. I still have never played WoW. I always figured it was too late to get in by the time I actually had the money and time to. But now old vanilla WoW is back, so I'll get a chance to play this game I always felt I missed out on. But I do play FFXIV, and raid, so I do have plenty of MMO experience. But anyway, I'm considering maybe giving it a shot.

I'm thinking if I do play I'm gonna play on Whitemane, and maybe roll a tank? I hear tanks are the worst for leveling, but tanking a big 40-man raid sounds really fun. And undead was always my favorite WC3 race, but I hear undead are the worst race for tanking, so I don't know. I guess an orc could be fun too, but it's not my first choice.

But yeah anyone else been thinking about doing this? The launch is still 2 weeks away.

Friend of mine plans to play on the PvP server with a coworker of his. I might dabble in it a bit along with them. Kinda debating if I should roll with a Undead priest again or reroll to a Tauren druid this time around. Personally I don't look forward to the tedious aspects of the game but if I'll be playing with friends, perhaps it'll be tolerable.

Aye. There were so many quality of life changes in TBC and WotLK that I felt didn't negatively affect the core aspect of the game. Something as simple as linking the flight paths together instead of manually starting the next leg of the flight each time was a much welcomed change.

Aye. There were so many quality of life changes in TBC and WotLK that I felt didn't negatively affect the core aspect of the game. Something as simple as linking the flight paths together instead of manually starting the next leg of the flight each time was a much welcomed change.

There's a chance they will move onto those eventually, classic content will only last for so long.

Personally I just wish it had it were you could play a current game mechanic version of the game and have world events pop when you want them to. I would be more willing to play if that were the case.

I'm in the same situation, I got BFA for Christmas last year and I still haven't installed it. I've read a lot of players saying it's the worst expansion, and I thought WOD was bad...

My understanding is it's classic emulation forked from 8.2. But it's all the same old vanilla models and textures and everything upscaled to 4k.

Edit: Also they're staggering release of content, especially raids. I think they plan to have everything out in about a year or so?

Also, it will be set in patch 1.12 - Drums of War. Blizzard said it chose it patch 1.12 because it represents the most complete version of the classic experience.

Oh also, apparently Blizz has a working reference client. So, they are trying to make Classic as accurate as they possibly can. Bugs and all.

The beta for Classic has an enhanced graphics mode. I know it enhances the water and lighting, but beyond that I'm not sure how extensive it is. Pretty sure the models are always Vanilla.

Nah. I still don't feel particularly un-burnt out on WoW, and I never particularly liked Vanilla compared to BC or WotLK (when I quit). The expansions just made the game so much more enjoyable in so many ways.

I played 'classic' the first time it came out. I didn't love it then and I haven't loved it through any of its iterations. I also don't really relish the idea of rewarding Blizzard for not creating something new.

I mean, I don't play WoW, but just from what people have told me that do, they don't like the new WoW. It doesn't really have anything to do with 'rewarding Blizz for not creating something new" it's that people miss the old game.

They miss the feeling WoW used to give them. It will never come back. You can't capture that. Certainly not by getting rid of a decade of quality of life improvements

i'm down to party up if we're ever on at the same time. not sure which class i'm gonna play yet, but i was leaning heavily toward mage, hunter, or priest because that's what i played back then. dwarf priest this time though cause fear ward is insta-invite.

i was also kinda thinking about warrior, but tanking was stressful back then so maybe not.

Nope. I'm not sure the system requirements but even if my PC could run it I wouldn't. I've only tried WOW once and I got bored rather quickly. I never felt the need to go back.
