I did the premium membership for World of Tanks, and I've purchased micro transactions for a handful of other games (Marvel Heroes, Champions Online, and such.) All told, I've probably paid over $500 over the last ten years for stuff like that. Wouldn't say I'm addicted to it, but I certainly am one of the 10% or so that are likely to monetize in those sorts of games, if I'm having enough fun to throw them a few bucks.

I know a guy who spent $120 on Mahjong Soul, though I dont know if that really counts as an addiction. Thats about it, most of my friends dont really play mobile/gacha games. Ive spent a little over $100 or so on Sound Voltex genesis cards if that counts.

Yes, me.

Mostly from getting a lot of money all at once due to my old (dream) job dissolving. I didn't believe it at the time but I fell into a bit of depression during my short time off and needed something to fill the time. What started as a little spending here and there while I was working turned into hundred/thousands when I was wasn't. Getting good stuff, and being great at the game felt like purpose which I lacked at the time even having a girlfriend and network of friends to spend time with.

I cut back drastically when my bank account was slowly dropping to a certain number I never expected to see again. That opened my eyes at seeing a serious problem. Since this year started I've spent less than 500, with the last three months being less than 50. Thankfully, unlike some other stories I've read I was the only person effected, as I have no one to take care of other than myself, and didn't get myself into any debt.

My coworker literally spent hundreds on Zinga Poker

He had a literal account manager whose job was to get him to spend more by offering him ridiculous "discounts"

This describes my co worker. He got a 50k inheritance when his grandpa passed away a few years ago. Think hes down to about 10-15k, for mostly stupid shit.

If he wants something, he buys it. Theres no consideration or hesitation.

For example. He bought a $600 drone, because his co worker at another job bought one. Before flying the $600 drone, he bought a $1200 drone. He has yet to fly either one, and its been over a year.

I buy them occasionally but I wouldn't consider myself addicted. If you total all of them put together across every game I ever played you might get around $3000 most of it on Smite

Edit: Napkin math and terrible memory also tells me I spent over $1500 just for the privilege of idling in Stormwind / Ironforge

Nope, I've spent a bit of cash in a couple games, but I don't regularly do it. I also hardly ever play those crappy gatcha games these days.
