I've played the game multiple times and got bored less than halfway through.

Collecting a million jigsaw pieces isn't fun nor is having to replay every level a thousand times in order to do it.

The music is very forgettable. Can't even compare to SNES era or dare I say it - DK64

I feel like Kanjo makes a conscious effort to have the worst opinions on CE; what a detestable human being.

Also weird that he has me blocked considering I havent really interacted with him much at all up to this point.

And LOL @ thinking DKC2 wasn't one of the best soundtracks of all time.

Too many rocket levels, and the Stickerbrush Symphony track being stuck on one of them so you never really get to hear it

5 to 9, and they actually are a lot of fun. The games all have level collectibles for completion.. did you not find them fun in the rest of the series? TFs collectibles are well-placed and clever without ever being too obscure or arbitrary, something not true of other DKCs. Seems weird to me complain about an abundance of content..

One major flaw was the repetitive and uninspired bonus levels. Other than that the game was brilliant and on par with DKC2 imo

This is my problem with the 'returns' series of games. While I'd never say either one is bad, with Tropical Freeze being called a modern masterpiece of platforming (I've never finished it)... they simply went too far for my taste with all the damn collectables.

I felt like I had to stop every few seconds to explore the background or something for some dumb puzzle piece. It broke up the game play too much... reminded me of the scan visor in Metroid Prime.

With the original DKC series... sure, it could be tough to find the bonuses, coins, etc... but once you knew where they were... you could play through each level at a brisk pace picking up everything as you went without having to be backtrack hardly at all, if ever. Maybe the returns series is like this too once you learn it? But still... there were more collectables than there had to be for my liking.

I kind of get your point, but I can't really understand this criticism. It really does just amount to complaining about having more content. Who doesn't play these games happily expecting to replay levels for completion? What I mean is, you're free to fly through the levels at any brisk pace you like, picking up whatever you happen to pick up along the way, or not, and then play them later more thoroughly.

You've also got the Time Trials mode in TF for playing levels fast, and when you get into it you even start to realize how excellently most of the levels are designed specifically for speedrunning.

Having more content was the exact and justifiable criticism DK64 received after it was released. Sometimes simple is better.

The Retro Studios DKC games are much more difficult than the SNES ones - especially in regards to 100%ing the game.
