I just saw Good Boys and I thought it was funny that some parents brought their little kids to see it. The lady in front of me on the line for tickets mentioned to the cashier that her daughter was 4 lol. It seems pretty questionable to expose a 4 year old to sex jokes, masturbation jokes and non stop swearing. How old were you when you saw your first rated R movie in theaters? I think I was 15 lol

I saw the Good Boys this weekend and there was a couple that brought their 2 kids both had to be under 10. They left after 30 minutes. Not sure what the hell they were expecting.

I did like the movie though.

I saw a few in the theaters my teen years. when i was under 10 in the 80s my babysitter would make me watch horror movies at their house then scare the shit out of me when i was sleeping. Bastards.

My parents apparently took me to a showing of Terminator 2 when I was like 2 years old.

Outside of that, I don't think so. They didn't give a shit if I saw Rated R movies (watched them all the time at home) but I don't recall them ever taking me to the theater for anything but Disney cartoons, and I think that had a lot more to do with my Disney obsessed sister than anything. I don't recall getting to choose what movie we went to see until X-Men came out, and funny enough I think that was the last film either of my parents saw in a theater. After that I'd just get my sister to take me to whatever I wanted to see (she's 9 years older than me) or go with my friends.

This. At least when I was a kid. When I was a teenager they would let me see rates R movies until theaters started a new BS policy where they said an adult has to buy a ticket too. That policy didn't last long lol.

I went to a few in theaters just by buying a ticket for a different movie and going into an r rated one instead. They didn't check for that sort of thing, plus I was close to whatever the age is... 17 I think, that I didn't look blatantly like a child lol. I don't think my parents would have approved but I don't think they would have cared either.

It's not illegal for a parent to take their kid to an R rated movie. It is pretty trashy depending on the movie though.

https://www.filmratings.com/

R Restricted
Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their young children with them.

No. I could watch tv edits at 15-16. Rentals around the same age, but only movies my dad had watched and ok'd. Typical prude rules. Violence and profanities were ok, but dont you dare show a sex scene. I think the first movie boob i saw was swordfish, a few months after i started college. First theater R was matrix 2(i think?) A few years later.

my mom unknowingly brought me and my friend to Scary Movie 1 when we were 12. i didn't know it was rated R either, and didn't realize something was up until a movie attendant asked my mom if we were with her. i thought that was strange. then we watched the movie and i looked at my mom and she was like ooooooh noooo
