(do they even have snaps on holsters as standard uniform?)

Slight bit hyperbole, but there's seriously no reason that they shouldn't document whenever they make use of their gun at all. It isn't a common enough thing to create huge issues and it can help cstch patterns and problem behaviors(assuming the reports are followed up on, another thing that needs fixing).

Not since the 1800s. Modern Holsters hold by friction and are designed to allow the firearm to come out with a quick firm tug. Much like a pen cap, on good pens anyway.

Only in that I want a law to actually have the legal ramifications intended.

Oooh interesting, thanks for the detail!

Most holsters I see on Live PD are plastic things that the gun slots into. The have a meaty click when they seat in place.

Also do you want to just skip the line and create Lawgiver guns that catalog every bullet fired?

cops use retention holsters, typically level 2. they snap into place around the trigger guard and require you to push a button with your trigger finger to release. makes it harder to unholster if you dont know how they work so most people cant just grab them from behind. some security forces might also use level 3 which has a thumb loop behind the hammer or back of the gun which you have to also release (with your thumb!) on top of the other mechanism for extra security.

Honestly, just a motion tracker. Disabled when in. The holster, logs when moving.

I have a tactical holster for my Glock. Snap holsters are outdated and counterproductive when your life is in danger.

I would only require documentation if a round is fired or if someone is detained by gunpoint.

Every department has different standard for what kind of retention they require. My department requires a use of force report whenever an officer deploys a rifle. Its a fucking nightmare and theyre already thinking of getting rid of it.

I take out my handgun like 10 times a shift no way

Thats true, on Live PD I observe a lot of non-confrontational draws (just drawing in the event things go south but otherwise drawn and held to the side).

They can't even secure IoT devices properly, I doubt that IoT is a good solution without issues of "Hacking", spoofing, etc.

Not everything in life needs technology to solve it.

Probably not using it but drawing it at least. Having it out of the holster and ready to engage but not doing so unless the situation warrants.

If that's happening ten times a shift something is very wrong.

Depends on where you patrol.

For instance cops have to draw their weapon to enter an abandoned house where something is supposedly happening. They probably aren't actually expecting anything in reality but if they're called to a scene where they don't know what's inside a building they have to have their gun out and clear it.

Yes it does. Cops here are much more likely to pull out their guns in China Town because of all the homeless drugees who get violent. Plus they basically took over the big park nearby, so that whole area is sketchy as fuck. Compared to say Kahala, where there are huge mansions everywhere and no riff raff, theyre far more likely to need to resort to force.

easy Ill explain. One of the most common calls we get is break ins and burglaries. We have to clear that house, business, etc. to make sure nobody is in it. We can respond to those calls easily 10 times a day through out a 10 hour shift. At least once a day theres a hot call which is usually a violent felony call

That makes sense actually, thanks for clarification.
