The equality minister, Martin Foley, said the legislation was an opportunity for trans and gender diverse people to have their true self reflected on their birth certificate. It would make life less humiliating, difficult, and impractical for people, he said. It's unimportant for day to day life, but I'm sure there are some areas in which it's important. If you tell them a lie, which what it is, you're begging for misdiagnosis. In the 2015 Meaningful Use certification, electronic medical records support sex, gender identity and Sexual orientation. That's what physicians need, especially the sex assigned at birth. The sex assigned at birth should never change because it's a source of truth. For example, if you change your sex on your birth certificate, you theoretically automatically get to change your sex on your driver's license in any state because it's supposed to match your birth certificate.
