That being said, I also don't really care about the new film, because they've effectively managed to kill any interest I have in the franchise as a whole. I don't feel compelled to see how they resolve the various plot threads with the new characters, because I don't care about any of the new characters. I no longer care what happens to the universe, because I now have no faith they're ever going to tell another story worth caring about after this one, either.
