I have all of the standard stuff booked (the Acropolis, various Mykonos beaches and the caldera in Santorini), but am open to some off-the-wall suggestions if you all have any.

I will not be going anywhere but these three locations.

Don't call Mykonos Mypos. They hate it when you do that.

I haven't been to Mykonos or Santorini, but as for Athens, most of the interesting stuff is in the city center. The giant honkin National Archeological Museum took me a couple trips to get through. And yes on the food - Greece is interesting in that McDonalds pretty much failed there. You can get cheap souvlaki and gyros (I ate for <10 euros a day and I didn't cook shit). Look out for small bakeries everywhere.

Honestly though, for Athens the only must-dos are the archeological museum and the Acropolis (and its museum, and the agora), which combined will probably take 3-4 days. If you have more time, hit the National Gardens, Lycabettus hill, maybe the art museum. I'm not a big shopper so I have no clue on that.

Athens is not a particularly off-the-wall place to be honest. UNLESS you like feedings colonies of stray cats, in which case you can go on a cat-colony feeding walk:

I'm not super interested in seeing ruins unless they're IRL but maybe if I have time!

The Archeological museum is MOSTLY artifacts, although they did a thing where they removed all the wall paintings from Akrotiri and placed them inside the museum to protect them from the elements. There's no easy way to preserve art that's so old - you either need to rebuild ruins in-situ or remove the delicate pieces. There are some amazing gold pieces, like the Mask of Agamemnon (actually predates Agamemnon).
A lot of seeing Greece depends on how into Greek history you are; it's actually striking how it's all blended into contemporary culture there.

Loving it so far. Greek food sneaks up on you with its heaviness, but other than that I'm having a tremendous time.

Mykonos > Athens > Santorini
