it looks better than the current pc port on steam, as well as the remaster of 7 and 9.

hell, as long as they get the audio right, it'll be way better than 9s.

Argument from Mediocrity? IDK, that sounds like a fallacy.

I'm sure it will be better than the 7 and 9 (and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6) remasterings (with 10 being the only one they did acceptably)... but that doesn't mean it won't be above the minimum acceptable level of improvement

They added... removing ChocoboWorld. Now it's no longer a deprecated feature clogging up one space of the menu

Which, btw, ChocoboWorld IS available in the PC Steam version :/

Also, some people are complaining that Squall looks extra girly, since they used his Dissidia model, but whatevs

The "improved" graphics make the characters faces look weird. You have to be careful when you improve the resolution not to alter the character design and they didn't do it right.

Leaning towards it, but then on the other hand I feel like I've got too many eShop games which has zero resale value and will not be playable whenever next console comes out. At least on PC I also have my GPD Win 2 for portable play assuming it can run FF8 remaster.

when capcom REmade RE1 they made it awesome
Squarenix just does some basic crap that could be done for free

they basically only remade FF1,2,3,4 and maybe parts of 10
the other games are virtually the same

I never got the argument against the junction system (granted, idk if that's what you're referring too, I'm just going on a tangent because of it)

I mean, think of it this way:

* Wow! I just spent hours grinding and am now max level and am super powerful, wow!

* Wow! I just spent hours grinding and am still level 1 but am overpowered... how does this work!?

The junction system is fine. It's the level scaling that is trash.

Any. ANY level scaling mechanic in games like this is terrible and always will be. To implement a mechanic that actually makes the player worse off if they level up and requires you to actively go out of your way (card, no encounters, turning shit to stone, etc) to avoid encounters if you want to be the best your party can be is simply ridiculous.

Leave the junction system alone (though make up to 99 spells drawable with enough intelligence/wisdom/whatever the stat is) and remove all traces of level scaling and give enemies throughout the game static levels based on what normal progression would be like if you simply fought every battle as you normally progressed without running and without grinding. FF8 REEKS of a game that wasn't tested for balance when it comes to how overpowered you can get at level 1 with the draw system, but remove level scaling and you make the completionists as well as the normal player happy (get to play through the game normally like a standard RPG and maybe have a challenge along the way as well because bosses and normal enemies were more balanced and well thought out? UNHEARD OF)

Leave the junction system alone. Remove level scaling mechanics in all games ever.

If you're interested in a version of the game that is at least tries to get rid of early overpowered mechanics, but leaves level scaling intact mostly. It's not perfect, but it's something different and made an attempt at least: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=18404.0

I always level up to 100 in addition to functioning high level magic just cause. Level scaling is kinda whack though yeah
