In almost every appearance right?

Well, funny thing is that these monsters actually do have stories and personalities attached to them. >_>

Mothra is a guardian deity to the people of Infant Island, and is generally good natured as long as you dont mess with her kids or her people. Her first story was basically yo, give me back the fairies, or Im gonna come get them myself. You cant really make Mothra a villain without drastically changing her story and characterization.

Characters like Godzilla and Rodan have always been neutral or antagonistic towards humanity, and Godzilla himself is often a type of natural disaster brought about by the folly of man. So its not hard to make them the bad guys.

Weirdest though is Ghidorah, who is almost always an evil alien except in Godzilla Mothra and King Ghidorah Giant Monsters All Out Attack, where hes supposed to be a legendary guardian deity for Japan lol

Also in that movie Godzilla was a zombie powered by the ghosts of Japans war dead.
