Our water source is a well and we are surrounded by farmland, so I question the safety of the water. It looks, smells and tastes fine, but that doesn't really mean anything. But instead of buying overpriced pre-filled bottled water, I have a bunch of 3 gallon plastic bottles that I refill at the grocery store for about $1. I can then place the bottles on a dispenser that provides hot and cold water. I go through about 1 bottle per week, depending on the weather and cooking.

I should see about getting an RO filter, but they're not cheap AND I'd need to have a water softener installed as well, also not cheap. I could refill my bottles for several years for the cost of the filtration system, and that's not counting the filter replacement.

I drink bottled water because like the guy above me, I have well water. Not only does it taste weird but they also had a cancer cluster around here for kids and everyone blames the water.

But bottled water isnt very expensive out here so it doesnt make too much of a difference for me.

I don't have a preference. I grew up with well water that had a sulfur smell, but don't have that issue now with my home. To me, bottled water is a waste of money
